The ultimate British gentlemen drivers car: the Austin Healey 100M
The pure looks characteristic of the Austin Healey 100 come into their own in the ultimate BN2 incarnation the “100M Le Mans”.
The BN2 distincts itself as a better version of the original design using a new 4-speeds gearbox with overdrive on the 2 high gears and a modified rear axle. The nec plus ultra of the BN2 is the 100M “Le Mans” offered here. The 100M was introduced in 1955 with factory fitted larger carburettors, high lift camshaft and high compression pistons. The bonnet gained louvres along with a leather bonnet strap. In all, only 640 100M’s were built in the Longbridge factory.
The 100M for sale here is one of those 640 factory 100M’s and was given a full restoration during its last years. Previous owner prepared the car meticulous with rallys and endurance tours in mind; Giving the Healey an alternator en high torque starter, new electrics to be able to provide sufficient current and added reliability to the instruments and navigation tools. To add safety new 4 point seatbelts were installed. All of wich is fully reversible, so it can be returned to factory spec.
This Matching numbers and colours car has its BMHT and Le Mans-Register certificates to prove its pedigree. It also comes with plenty of historical documents, invoices and restoration photo’s.

About Austin-Healey
Austin-Healey was a British sports car make created as a joint-venture between the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and the Donald Healey Motor Company. First Healey model, Healey 100, was based on Austin A90 Atlantic mechanicals and developed by Donald Healey to be build in-house. They finished a single Healey Hundred for the 1952 London Motor Show. Leonard Lord, managing director of Austin was so impressed by the design that a deal was duly struck with Healey and the car was renamed the Austin-Healey 100 overnight. Austin Healey was born. 100 derived into 100-six, and different 3000 versions before they quit the production in 1968 as the basic design had finally become obsolete.
