Austin-Healey 3000 MK III BJ8 '67 1967

General description : This 'Big Healey' has been fully restored and painted in the stunning colors 'Light Blue over Ivory.' The 3000 MK3 Phase 2 is currently the most sought-after model of all the series, and with its whitewall tires and chrome wheels, it presents very well. However, that’s where the good news ends. You will notice, along with us, that this car is being offered at a price far below the normal market value. This is due not only to some maintenance that is needed after a period of being idle but also because the car likely (no further information available) had an accident on the front right side. The traces of this accident are still visible on a part of the inner fender (see attached photos). In addition, the chassis, although fully repaired in that area, is still cracked and slightly deformed. Ideally, the car should be fitted with a new H-piece at the front of the chassis. Due to the nature of this intervention and the fact that the car will be strictly sold as-is, we can offer this very low price. The car has been in Belgium since the early 1990s and comes with Belgian papers. Model description: With the power and comfort of its engine, as well as its driving comfort, the Austin Healey 3000 occupies an intermediate position between the Jaguar XK 150 and English roadsters like the Triumph TR3 and TR4. Regarding its timeless lines, it is considered one of the most beautiful British cars of the post-war period. Once again, it was at the request of the American market that in July 1959, the Austin Healey 3000 was launched, the first model of a generation whose six-cylinder engine was enlarged to 2.9 liters. This enlarged engine was also used in the Austin Westminster and the MGC. It develops 124 hp at a calm 4600 rpm. Another important innovation is that the Big Healey (finally) is equipped with disc brakes at the front. The car is available as a roadster (series BN7) and as a 2+2 (series BT7). Thanks to this powerful and smooth engine, and the driving pleasure that follows, the Austin Healey has reached its full maturity. Driving is mainly done through torque, with an excellent value of 23 mkg expressed at 3000 rpm. On the road, the car shows the generous qualities of its mechanics, which, while simple, nevertheless displays remarkable characteristics. This inline-six is always ready to pick up without hesitation and proves to be a model of smoothness and availability. As for the interior, at least in the 2+2 version, it offers superior comfort compared to most English roadsters (except Jaguars). Behind the imposing and thin three-spoke steering wheel appears a simple yet complete dashboard, with the speedometer on the left and the tachometer on the right. The Austin Healey 3000 boasts an impressive record in competition. The racing versions, lightened by an aluminum body, developed 200 hp starting in 1962 thanks to an aluminum cylinder head fed by three Weber twin-carburetors. Although the 3000 did not succeed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it never finished due to engine overheating, it achieved numerous victories in rallies, where the factory regularly entered it. In May 1964, the final version of the beautiful car was built, with a total of 17,000 units produced. The Austin Healey would not have a worthy successor. Technical specifications: Body: length/width/height/wheelbase (cm): 401/153/124/234; weight: 1158 kg. Engine: inline six-cylinder of 2912 cm³, front-mounted, four-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel drive. Maximum power: 150 hp at 4750 rpm; torque: 224 Nm at 3500 rpm. Top speed: 182 km/h.

About Austin-Healey
Austin-Healey was a British sports car make created as a joint-venture between the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and the Donald Healey Motor Company.

First Healey model, Healey 100, was based on Austin A90 Atlantic mechanicals and developed by Donald Healey to be build in-house. They finished a single Healey Hundred for the 1952 London Motor Show. Leonard Lord, managing director of Austin was so impressed by the design that a deal was duly struck with Healey and the car was renamed the Austin-Healey 100 overnight. Austin Healey was born. 100 derived into 100-six, and different 3000 versions before they quit the production in 1968 as the basic design had finally become obsolete.
