Seeking a conversation starter for your vehicle collection? Looking for pre-war truck that is unlike most 1930s models? Then MotoeXotica Classic Cars may have your solution. We are proud to present this 1931 Chevrolet Series LT 1 ½-ton Tow Truck. We have a voided Missouri title that shows previous owner had the truck since 1974 till he sold it in 2017. From whom we purchased the truck from.
This truck was made in GM’s St. Louis, Missouri factory (VIN code 3) and the LT was a mid-model year change and offered some mechanical improvements over the previous Series LS trucks.
This very carefully and conscientiously restored truck features a new dark blue over black exterior that is in great shape. The metal front bumper and rear wood bumper are in good order, as is the external sun visor. The truck’s bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is tidy and tow area has a shop-built steel box, a wood floor and a cast-iron hand-operated winch with cable and hook. That’s right, you’d have to put your back into it to work this one; no remote controls, electric motors or hydraulic pumps on this baby. Additional features include a jerry can and a trio of Toledo truck flares. Note that there’s only a taillight and windshield wiper on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
This wrecker rolls on U.S. Tires, size 6.00-20, with tubes and flaps in front and Firestone High-Speed, Gum-Dipped tires, size 6.50-20 with tubes and flaps in the back. Each tire is wrapped around a body-colored, solid disc wheel. The rear wheels are heavy-duty. The tires and wheels are in very good order. The solid wheels give off a different vibe compared to the usual wood spoke wheels found in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
Beneath the hood is Chevy’s 194 CID inline six-cylinder, popularly called the “Stovebolt Six,” because the bolts that held the engine together resembled the bolts that were commonly used to assemble wood stoves. The engine reportedly has about 3,000 miles on it after undergoing some head work. The motor is bolted to a four-speed manual transmission with reverse lockout that has new bearing. In addition, the clutch, throw-out bearing and brake linings are new.
Inside, the cab features new wood, fresh upholstery and a new wood steering wheel. The black, split-bench seat is in excellent order. Fuel gauge is inop. The floor mats are in great shape while the black metal headliner is in satisfactory shape. The blue metal instrument panel has refurbished gauges and all of the wiring has been replaced. Finally, the inner door panels are in very good condition.
Would your collection continue to be a wreck without this tow truck? Then you owe it to yourself to visit MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to check this early Depression-era truck out for yourself.

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
