LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1966 Chevrolet Biscayne L72
By 1966 GM's intermediates, with near 400-cu in engines crammed between their fender wells, were rising in popularity faster than the hemlines of the day. The muscle car era had arrived. Race tracks across the country were serving as the proving grounds for myriad new high-performance powertrain combos from the Big Three.
While Chevrolet had made the high-performance 427 available across the full-size car line, the division didn't assemble a drag-strip-dedicated packaging of those elements the way some other manufacturers were doing at the time. So, it was up to racers to figure out that the hot setup was the base-model Biscayne two-door pillared sedan with the L72 engine checked off. A handful of savvy Chevy faithful did just that and were rewarded with a potent engine package wrapped in a large car that was both lighter and more rigid than an Impala hardtop.
Base price on a Biscayne two-door sedan with a V-8 (not the 427) was $2,484, positioning it $100 less than Bel Air, $305 less than Impala, $463 less than Impala SS and $516 less than Caprice. Simply put, though the L72 could be ordered in any big Chevy--four-doors and wagons included--the Biscayne was the lightest, cheapest, and potentially quickest option. At just under $450, this 427 instantly transformed Chevy's low-cost sedate sedan into a competitive drag racer.
This 1966 Biscayne was built on June 21st,1966 and delivered new to Gorrie’s Chevrolet Oldsmobile in Toronto, Canada. It was ordered with the L72 engine package backed by a M20 4-Speed transmission. This car is powered by a matching numbers engine and has the correct 7000 RPM in-dash tach, Gardiner Exhaust System, exhaust manifolds, heads, intake, carb, air cleaner, deep groove pulleys and very rare idler pulley. It has been frame off restored to a concours style level and factory finished in its correct as delivered Aztec Bronze Metallic exterior. It is fully documented with GM of Canada Documentation, Protect-O-Plate and Owner’s Manual.
There’s nothing that compares to driving a full-size Chevrolet with a high performance 427 big block. This high horsepower stripper model was the perfect package for any drag racer in 1966. Don’t miss this opportunity to own a truly rare, highly collectible and desirable Bow-Tie.

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
