Chevrolet Camaro 454 V8 1968

General description : 1968 Chevrolet Camaro The first generation of Camaro appeared in 1966 for the 1967 model year and debuted GMs new F body platform.  This generation only lasted 3 years but many would argue these would be the pinnacle of all muscle car designs ever created.  These cars fit perfectly into the muscle car era and although there was a brief lapse in time where they weren't being produced the resurgence of the newer modern classic Camaro shows that this look still holds a very special place in the hearts of classic car fanatics.  This 68 SS is a beautifully built one and incorporates all the right stuff for not only a great look but a great feel behind the wheel.  On first glance the thing that catches your eye is the beautiful Burgundy paint.  The color on this car is very striking and looks perfect paired with the Gloss Black bumblebee stripe on the nose.  It is very solid, straight and rust free.  All of the body sheet metal is original except for one GM replacement.  The floors underneath are painted Black and restored to new condition.  The front and rear bumpers are beautifully chromed and cleanly mounted in place.  The blacked out front grill looks great and prominently displays the White SS emblem right on the nose.  The Super Sport hood sits on top of the nose featuring the SS chrome louvers.  In back the D80 rear spoiler completes the Camaro look and up front it has a custom Glossy Black spoiler.  The only are of damage on the car is that lower front spoiler and it is only noticeable from the side.  The builders however realized this so a second spoiler comes with the car and is already painted to match and ready for install should you want to make it perfect and take it to one of the higher level shows.  All of the glass is in great shape and framed with nice stainless trim.  The car has an awesome stance and the side profile has an aggressive look which we mean in a very good way.  The American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels have a beautiful finish and it rides on 18s up front and 20s in the rear.  These nicely fill up the wheels wheels and add to that slight rake in the stance.  The car is really impressive in person.  The car has that look but what about the power to back it up?  Well there is no power lacking here because under the hood sits a fully rebuilt big block 454.  Big block Chevy power suits a car like this perfectly and the motor was built with the traditional look using Chevrolet Orange and Chrome.  The inner fenders, radiator support and firewall are also very nicely painted which creates a very clean appearance under the hood.  Some of the mechanical upgrades include the Holley 4 barrel carb, an aftermarket points distributor, aluminum intake, MSD Blaster II coil, Accel Ferro-spiral race wires, an aftermarket aluminum radiator, 2 electric pull fans, aluminum Weiand water pump, power master alternator, ceramic coated long tube headers and of coarse new belts, hoses, etc throughout.  Mated to the motor is a Richmond Super T-10 4 speed transmission leading to a GM 12 bolt posi rear end with 4.10 gears.  Believe us, if you have never experienced the sensation of moving through the gears in a vintage muscle car...you are missing out!  On those unfortunate occasions when you must slow down the Baer 4 wheel disc brakes with slotted rotors handle it with no problem.  The suspension is all the factory set up but has been modified with mini tubs and subframe connectors.  Looking under the car you will find a stainless tank, new stainless fuel/brake lines, and the 2.5 inch stainless dual exhaust with dual chambered mufflers and rear turn downs.  The car sounds just like you would hope it would!  The interior is all Black and the upholstery work entirely redone giving it that fresh factory look.  The bucket seats sit to each side of the original style console which cleanly wraps around the floor mounted Hurst shifter.  The dash has a mostly stock appearance but does incorporate an Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo and inset vents for the aftermarket AC.  This is not just a fancy looking stereo head unit because it is combined with all aftermarket speakers as well as two trunk mounted amps and subwoofers to deliver a great sound should you want to listen to something other than the pleasing roar from the exhaust.  There is no doubting how gorgeous this car is in person and we were excited to realize it is just as good of a driver as well.  It is very well built and very well maintained since completed.  Whatever your ultimate goal for the car is it is sure to fit the bill and would be a great addition to any collection.    This car has been SOLD!  Please check out our other ads!
