Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to offer this legendary 1983 Mazda RX-7. When talking about Japanese sports car, it's impossible not to mention the RX-7. Mazda first offered the car in 1978 with a revolutionary engine. The Wankel rotary was an engine which defied the norm with its design. The engine has no pistons, but rather a triangular rotor which rotates around the combustion chamber. The result is a much smaller displacement than the typical piston engine. This RX-7 sports a 1,146cc 12A rotary engine. This engine produced just over 100 horsepower, but was lightweight which allowed the car to have an incredibly balanced 50/50 weight distribution. The entire car was under 2,500 pounds, so there's no doubt why they handle on rails. This particular example is a well maintained 73,665 mile car which is a total survivor. With only one owner and a clean Carfax history, this is one for a collector. The color scheme is an attractive Stardust blue metallic over black vinyl interior which is rather fetching. In case you forgot you were in a sports car, the dash features a large center mounted tachometer and the console houses the 5 speed manual transmission shifter. Backing the 5-speed manual transmission is a limited slip differential. This is a true sports car which will continue to appreciate in value. The owner mentions recent work that includes a new brake master cylinder, Fuel tank and pump, Fuel gauge, Carb rebuild, brake calipers, pads and lines, rear wheel cylinders, clutch master and new clutch, new tires and battery replacement.
