Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 327 V8 1968

General description : Description
This 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is all about classic style, but with subtle upgrades. For example, it was born red, but now it's a shade brighter. And while you have the numbers-matching V8, it has been upgraded for more power. So it's a desirable total package, especially for this price.
The first-year C3 is truly a legend. The long front, short rear, and wave-like profile was so attractive that it became the longest-running Corvette design. And some argue the inaugural year was the purest. It wasn't officially called a Stingray yet, and so the sides have no trim to interrupt the line between flared fenders. The chrome struck just the right tone with the sharply pointed front end and a stylish two-piece rear. The red paint was updated later in life to a lighter shade that radiates more in the sunshine. And today it has the right aged-in look that people may just assume its original. So you're really looking at a sleek and clean all-American presentation.
Black always looks good against red, and so you have that kind of desirable color combo no matter if the black folding roof is up or down. There are desirable features like power windows and an upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo. Plus, this is a factory air conditioning car (it will need components and servicing to restore the function.) Bucket seats mean individual comfort for you and your passenger. And as a true Corvette, this is a driver-oriented machine. This means an upgraded sports steering wheel with a large speedo and tach just ahead of that. And the auxiliary readouts dominate the center of the dash so you can keep an easy eye on what's going on under the hood.
Under the hood is the numbers-matching 327 cubic-inch V8. It's always extra desirable to have the main pieces original in a Corvette. But since Chevy built these small blocks so robust, we also love unleashing a little extra power. That's why this one inhales deeper with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with added power and authority as headers feed the dual exhaust. It fires up readily with the feeling of a well-respected classic (in fact, we're told this one is coming off a decade with the same owner.) Out on the road, the numbers-matching TH400 three-speed automatic transmission is a nice pairing for being both stout and smooth. Plus, it's an all-around nice driver with features like power steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, and the C3's fully independent suspension.
The odometer tells us this one hasn't averaged many miles over the decades, and the way it runs reaffirms the feeling of a careful life. So this is the right-priced classic for your garage. Call now!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
