Chrysler Imperial 413 CID V8 1962

General description : This 1962 Chrysler Imperial custom series is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The Imperial was known as America’s most carefully built car. When released in 1962 Chrysler was worried about what the public was going to say with its decision to, well chop off the fins that up to that point defined the Imperial. To Chryslers surprise the public loved the fresh look and would wind up buying nearly 20% more than the year before. This white example is a 3-owner car with the original miles 68000 miles showing on the odometer. Purchased new by a set of sisters that owned a Jewelry store the car was rarely driven except to and from the jewelry store. Parked out front it was sure to attract clients which it did for years to come. When the Sisters passed the car was purchased by their longtime mechanic who held on to it until his passing which is where in 2002 the current owners purchased it. The 413 under the hood still purrs like a kitten at idle and with the addition of the dual exhaust will howl like a lion when opened. Keeping this iconic piece of metal moving down the road is Mopar’s best transmission to date. The 727 TorqFlite was serviced with all new seals being installed this transmission has a lot of life left. The AC has been switched over to today’s 134-A, and it cools as good as any modern system. With the steering box, just having been gone through the wheel is as tight as the day the sisters took it home. The exterior has been preserved and looks amazing for being 55 years old. You would never think that the chrome had not been touched given its shine. If you have ever wanted to own a piece of automotive history but didn’t want to have to sleep in it then this priced mechanically sound very original 62 Imperial is just that car. Options for this 1962 Chrysler Imperial include air conditioning, AM radio, power brakes, power steering, power seats, power windows, cloth and vinyl interior, seat belts, hub cap, white wall and radial tires. About Chrysler
The Chrysler Corporation, one of the "big three" was founded by Walter Chrysler in 1925

Apart from artdeco(isque), airflow and airstream models, Chrysler's early years may lack lustre in design terms but not in technical. Their list of early automotive "firsts" includes Floating Power i.e. Rubber engine mounts, replaceable oil filters, downdraft carburetor, and four-wheel hydraulic brakes.

Things were to change after the war, Exner revived Chrysler production car design with the sleek, sculptured Forward Look designs of 1955 that transformed the product line overnight. The flagship in 1955, Chrysler 300, came with HEMI power. The 300, arguably the first muscle car, became a legend on and off the race track and set records throughout the 1950s, The Legend of Hemi was born.
