Chrysler Imperial 413 V8 1961

General description : ONLY 429 BUILT, UNIQUE 1 YEAR DESIGN, REBUILT CORRECT 413 V8, PS, PB, P TOP, AC!

Luxury, distinction, and ultra rarity – that's why you're looking at this 1961 Chrysler Imperial Crown Convertible. The fact that this classic also has all the right features – from a big V8 to a luxury interior – is just the cherry on top.
Less than 429 of these were made. Yes, Ford averaged nearly as many Thunderbird convertibles in 1961 as Imperial made Crown Convertibles that entire year. That's the kind of rarity we all love to see, but there's much more to the attraction of this example. Remember, we call this a Chrysler, but really, it was part of a few years when Imperial was its own separate brand to be at the top of the corporate luxury ladder. Each year was different, and arguably '61 is the most distinct. It was the only time that classic tailfins were mixed with headlights that were free-standing pods on the body – a very distinct and pricy feature. In fact, this is a true style master. The trim line starts at the front and wraps around the side until highlights the tailfin. The bumpers look like they were molded into the sheetmetal. Plus, the taillights are their own individual ornaments. It's such a bold design that it's nice to see the right investments have been made in this convertible – including a full repaint later in life and a snug-fitting black convertible top. It shows that this has been respected as the true boulevard king over its two-owner lifetime.
Inside the unique luxury experience continues. The white interior gives this a very regal presence as it radiates against the red when the top is down. You get the proper squared off steering wheel that came on the premium Chrysler products, and beyond that is the artistic full gauge package. And despite this car's size, everything from the heat/defrost controls to the cool push-button transmission is all within a close reach. It's easy to get comfortable with a power adjusting front bench and an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo mounted blow the dash. Plus, this has all the best classic cruiser features. Power windows and a power top mean you can go from enclosed luxury to a wind-in-your-hair experience without ever having to leave the driver's seat. And there is even R134a air conditioning.
The engine bay is filled with the correct and large 413 cubic-inch V8. Because the consignor bought the car from the original owner, it is easy to believe that this is the original motor. It was rebuilt in 2013, and other components have been invested in since then, including the four-barrel carburetor, front end suspension, stainless dual exhaust, starter, brakes, and the three-speed automatic transmission. It glides down the road like a luxury American should. Plus, with the power steering, power brakes, and modern Kumho tires, driving is an effortless experience.
Complete with owner's manual, build receipts, and plenty of maintenance records, this is a rare opportunity at an exceptional classic convertible. Don't let it slip away, call today!

About Chrysler
The Chrysler Corporation, one of the "big three" was founded by Walter Chrysler in 1925

Apart from artdeco(isque), airflow and airstream models, Chrysler's early years may lack lustre in design terms but not in technical. Their list of early automotive "firsts" includes Floating Power i.e. Rubber engine mounts, replaceable oil filters, downdraft carburetor, and four-wheel hydraulic brakes.

Things were to change after the war, Exner revived Chrysler production car design with the sleek, sculptured Forward Look designs of 1955 that transformed the product line overnight. The flagship in 1955, Chrysler 300, came with HEMI power. The 300, arguably the first muscle car, became a legend on and off the race track and set records throughout the 1950s, The Legend of Hemi was born.
