Description : Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is pleased to offer for sale this awesome Concord Purple 1939 Ford Cabriolet. While, according to information from its owner, it does have a Gibbons fiberglass body, its fenders and hood are steel. The grill is from a '40 Ford, and the underpinnings consist of a modified 1st-gen Mustang front end, and a C3 Corvette's IRS out back, so not only does this bad boy have a really cool look to it, it also has 4-wheel independent suspension and 4-wheel power disc brakes! This beast goes (and stops) as nicely as it looks! The removable convertible top is covered in high grade canvas, which looks almost unused. With a power-operated rumble seat out back, you have room for an extra two passengers - for putting the Mayor out back for his parade!

Under the hood is a potent small block Chevy engine, displacing 350 cubic inches and hosting a mild performance cam. Topped by an Edelbrock carb and Weiand aluminum intake, and fitted with shorty headers and dual exhaust, this '39 Ford Cabriolet sets the stage for some fun driving. Backing the V8 is a Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission, which spins the 3.08 gears in the Corvette rear end. The car sits on BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires, which are nicely staggered (P195/60R15 up front, P225/70R15 out back) and wrap around the aluminum Boyds 5-spoke mags, giving it a classic hot rod stance. The interior features a synthetic leather and tweed motif, with front buckets out of a late '90's Mustang. There is a full set of VDO gauges, including oil pressure, water temperature, speedo, tach, voltmeter, and quartz clock, all sequestered nicely in a gorgeous Wabbits wood dash. Tunes are provided by a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/MP3 head unit in the center console, which also features the switches for the power windows, HVAC controls, and headlight and wiper switches. The LeCarra billet steering wheel sits on a tilt/telescoping steering column, so the driver will find plenty of adjustment capability to get the pilot's environment fitted. You'll have to search high and low to find another '39 Ford Cabriolet with this many features, and you'll probably not be able to find one with such a sweet suspension setup!

Additional features and options on this 1939 Ford Cabriolet include Air Conditioning, Aluminum Wheels, AM/FM/CD/MP3 Radio, Cloth with Synthetic Leather seating, Manual (removable) Convertible Top, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Windows, Radial Tires, and Seatbelts (for the front passengers). About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
