For sale is a 1963 Ford Country Squire Station Wagon located in our Indianapolis showroom. The Country Squire was in production from 1950 to 1991 and was Ford's premium station wagon. The Country Squire was initially built as a full "Woodie" until the mid-50's where it was changed to a vinyl simulated wood pattern trim. This particular '63 Country Squire has seen a recent repaint with a base coat/clear coat white paint and has hand painted simulated wood trim and panels along with a roof rack and surf board which sure sets this wagon off and gets lots of attention. The car is believed to retain its original body panels, seats, and door panels and is in surprisingly good shape despite its age. The two-tone blue interior complements the exterior very well and with 3 rows of seating, you have plenty of room for the whole family and friends to head out on a cruise. This 1963 Ford Country Squire Station Wagon is powered by its 427 CID V8 engine and is backed by a 3-speed manual transmission. The engine is a 1967 427 CID "Center Oiler" block and was rebuilt with an "R code" solid lifter cam and has plenty of power to get this big wagon down the road in a hurry. The brakes were just upgraded to power brakes with front disc brakes and is a sure improvement over the factory non-power drum brakes. Giving this car a more modern look, a nice set of 17" American Racing Torq Thrust II's sit on all four corners wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 radials measuring 225/45r17 in the front and 275/40r17 in the rear. About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.
In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.
In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
