MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this extremely rare 1950 Ford Crestliner custom sedan. This handsome €œshoebox€ Ford wore the high wattage colors with high style, standard was slatted fender skirts, gold anodized script and dress hub caps that rounded out the custom look.
1950 saw a new Crestliner “sports sedan”,a 2-door sedan with 2-tone paint intended to battle Chevrolet’s popular hardtop coupe of 1950. The 1949 and 1950 styling was similar, with a single central “bullet” in the frowning chrome grille. The new Fords got the now-famous “Ford Crest” which appeared on the division’s vehicles for many decades in one form or another. Ford offered the Crestliner in two color combinations, Coronation Red Metallic and Black or Sportsman’s Green and Black. This was Ford’s only two-tone vehicle in its line-up.
Refinished in the correct brightly colored Sportman’s Green and black custom paint, this sedan shows extremely well. The correct black vinyl roof is also in very good condition. All the original trim is present, complete and brilliant., however this Crestliner takes the trim a step (or two) further with the trim accessories. The front bumpers with optional chrome overriders and original bullet grill fit is extremely tight and chrome finish is exquisite. The rear bumper mirrors the theme of the front bumper with an excellent finish. The period correct headlights and tail lights are in excellent condition along with the rear fender skirts and custom chrome tail pipe.
Inside, the newly upholstered original tan cloth striped front seats and rear seats appear in excellent condition. The matching stripped door panels, black carpet and two tone dashboard are a continuation of the striking green & black exterior of the car and look fantastic. All gauges are located in their original place have correct appearance and function as originally designed, Equipped with the original wind up clock and “Magic-Air” heating, ventilation and defrosting system completing the theme. The original Crestliner four spoke steering wheel and Super Deluxe radio and NOS speakers are in excellent condition and functions as designed.
This nicely presented Ford is equipped with a 239cid Flat head V8 engine fed by a Ford/Holley 94 carburetor. Power is transferred to the rear wheels by three speed on-the-column manual transmission, front independent, coil springs, tube shocks, rear; live axle, leaf springs, tube shocks and front and rear drum brakes. The original steel wheels are 15-inch with exterior color matching paint and original Ford center caps with B.F. Goodrich wide whitewall tires.
If you’re allergic to chrome and compliments, then this ’50 Ford custom Crestliner sedan isn’t for you. However, if you’re immune, we’ve never seen a more period correct example…period! GET OUT AND DRIVE!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
