Ford De Luxe 8BA Ford Flathead V8 1939

General description : 1939 Ford Deluxe Convertible Ford was in full swing by 1930 and over the next decade would introduce a wide variety of styles as they started to slowly introduce larger more comfortable vehicles and moved away from the look of the Model T and Model As.  This decade brought a lot of changes for Ford and by 1939 they were offering a V8 motor and introduced hydraulic brakes.  1939 was also the last year for the rumble seat which is a nice vintage touch that really makes cars like this '39 Deluxe stand out.  This car is a true all steel convertible and is in great shape.  It is painted in a bright Blue paint paired with a light Beige convertible top and parade boot.  The finish is in nice condition and the car still wears its original bumpers, stainless trim and chrome grill.  The glass is all good and it has the split windshield up front.  It has its original tear drop style headlights and in back tear drop taillights with the old school blue dot lenses.  The car has a great overall look and another nice old school touch is those smooth full moon wheels with 15 inch radial tires. Pop the hood and you will see this beauty is powered by a later model 8BA Ford Flathead V8.  It has been bored .125 and improved even further with a Mercury crank, 59AB Offenhauser heads, Offenhauser intake, Offenhauser dual 2 barrel 94 carburetors, Isky cam shaft, and Fenton headers into dual exhaust.  It is a road proven car that runs great.  The motor also has some nice cosmetic accents like the very cool Motor City Ford Flathead finned air cleaner.  Keeping it running cool is a Walker radiator with Electric push fan.  The transmission is a 3 speed manual with floor shift that transfers power back through the enclosed driveshaft to the Columbia 2 speed OD rear end.  This is a neat set up that was created to give the cars of this era fast acceleration from a dead stop with low speed pulling power which could then be shifted on the fly for highway speeds.  The brakes have plenty of stopping power with drums in back and discs up front.   The interior of the car is complete in a nice Tan leather with a split bench seat.  For additional passengers you can pop open the rear rumble seat with the remote release and it is nicely upholstered as well.  The dash features it's faux wood style paint and all of its original style trim, knobs, gauges, and switches.  In front of the driver sits a nice DeLuxe Banjo steering wheel which is exactly what you want to see on a car like this. This cool Ford Deluxe is a nice cruiser that runs out well.  It has a nice vintage look and is ready for a new home.    This car has been SOLD!  Please check out our other ads!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
