Ford Fairlane 289 V8 1963

General description : PRICED TO SELL! FRESHLY REBUILT 289 & 4 SPD MANUAL! COLD A/C, GREAT FAIRLANE!!!

The best cars are those with an interesting story to tell, and what makes this 1963 Ford Fairlane even more appealing is that it has a fresh 289, a 4-speed, cold A/C, and a fantastic color combination. Need we say more?
The Fairlane often lives in the shadow of the Galaxie, but looking at this cool hardtop, we're not so sure why that's the case. The last vestiges of tail fins give this one a long, fast look and the bright trim along its flanks is certainly upscale enough. The noses are quite similar and the faux hood scoop on this one seems to emphasize the Fairlane's performance side more than anything else. Wearing code J Rangoon Red paint, it looks quite good today and certainly emphasizes the unique blend of performance and sophistication that defined the Fairlane. The trim is in excellent condition, including the stainless rub strips that run the length of the body, and the jet-inspired taillights look as awesome as ever. Add in the custom mirrors and tinted windows and this car has an aggressive personality that's exactly right for the 1960s. It's easy to see where the money was spent, because this car is in great condition.
It gets even better inside, where there's a gorgeous black and red with fresh seat covers, carpets, and a restored steering wheel. They took a few liberties with the restoration, most notably the seat covers, but that's an easy sin to forgive when everything else looks this good. The original AM radio is gone but there's a new AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in its place and cold A/C comes from the box hanging underneath. The factory instrument panel looks bright and crisp and has been augmented with a set of period auxiliary dial sin their own pods. And yes, that's a 4-speed manual in the center console, a fantastic find on this mid-sized cruiser. The full-sized back seat was trimmed to match the front and there's a big tach up top, Shelby-style. The trunk is truly massive and includes a reproduction mat and a brand new spare tire with jack assembly.
The engine is a freshly rebuilt 289 cubic inch V8, which is a step up from the original F-code 260 cubic incher. Finished two months ago and beautifully detailed, the engine bay isn't 100% correct, but it is clean, neat, and very sharp-looking. A myriad of new parts, including a Holley carburetor, Mallory ignition, and those cool finned valve covers make it look and act fast. Everything was painted to match the bodywork, so it has a custom look but details like the original-style decals keep it grounded. The 4-speed manual transmission was also checked and reinstalled, and feeds 3.25 gears in the 9-inch rear end, so it's a superlative highway cruiser. You'll also note that it's pretty tidy underneath with a lot of new parts, including a fully rebuilt front end. There's also a great-sounding dual exhaust system and a set of custom front Magnum 500 wheels painted to contrast with the bodywork. Four 235/60/14 white-letter radials give it a performance attitude.
A very cool Fairlane with a ton of recent work and a very cool look. Call today!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
