Ford Model A 350 V8 with Injection 1929

General description : 1929 Ford Roadster Pickup Custom When it comes to the world of car customization there aren't many bigger names than George Barris.  He was a well known car builder who designed some of the most iconic vehicles ever created including the original Batmobile, The Munsters Drag-U-La and more.  One of his well known builds and most iconic vehicles was a custom Pickup named Ala Kart.  It was owned by Richard Peters and another big name associated with the build was Mike "Blackie" Gejeian who would go on to organize one of the largest car shows in America, Autorama.  The build was done in 1957 and the car won some of the biggest awards in the country and was featured in magazines, movies, and television.  This very cool 1929 Ford was built by the owner of Old Dog Street Rods for his personal collection and over $200,000 was invested into its construction.  It was inspired by Ala Kart and they pulled it off perfectly.  The iconic front end really stands out and was all hand made.  The entire truck is all steel and entirely rust free.  It is dressed in a very clean high quality metallic Burgundy paint with the fenders being slightly darker.  The custom top is removable but honestly the truck looks really sharp when it is in place.  It has oak planks with stainless strips in the rear bed and an ultraviolet resistant finish was applied to keep it protected.  With that unique front end it also required a custom hood and hood sides as well as an Alumicraft grill.  The truck has an awesome stance and rides on a set of Billet Specialties 5 spoke Vintec wheels with Goodyear radial tires (225/45ZR17 - front, 245/45R18 - rear). Underneath that custom hood is a 350 ci small block V8 that runs well.  It has been fitted with a very cool Hilborn 8 stack electronic fuel injection which is always a treat to reveal at car shows. Other nice features include the Dart heads, Powermaster alternator, Powermaster starter, a custom Zero to Cool radiator, cool flex hoses and custom valve covers.  The truck sound good through its dual exhaust system that exits out of the rear in custom tips.  Paired with the motor is a Bowles 700R4 automatic 4 speed transmission paired with a polished Currie 9 inch rear end.  Underneath the car it rides on a TCI chassis and you will note a lot of the components have been painted to match the body.  Up front it has an independent front suspension and it also has 4 wheel disc brakes under all 4 corners. Inside the truck it has tan leather upholstery with matching carpet and headliner.  It is a two tone style with darker inserts on the bench seat and is in good condition.  In front of the driver sits an Ididit custom steering column that actually will swing out of your way.  This is a very cool feature as vehicles of this time period are notoriously small on the inside.  This makes getting in and out a much simpler task.  On top of that column is a 3 spoke aftermarket steering wheel.  On the floor is a Lokar shifter with LED gear indicator.  The steel dash features a custom made bezel with engine turned trim framing the AutoMeter gauges.  The truck has dual gas tanks but only 1 is currently being used. This is one awesome pickup that is incredibly unique.  Unless you are looking at the Ala Kart itself there are pretty slim odds that you are going to see another one.  Above all though, it is being offer at an awesome price considering how much it took to construct it.  This truck is a steal at only $48,500.00!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
