LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1969 Shelby GT500 Super Cobra Jet.
In recent history with the large amount of interest in muscle cars as collectibles, the rare combinations of models and drivetrains have created some very valuable pieces. The rarest being the convertible models equipped with top of the line drivetrains such as HEMI Cuda’s or LS6 equipped Chevelle convertibles. In the Ford camp, it is the drag pack equipped Mustangs, or Super Cobra Jets as they are referred to.
This SCJ Shelby was built on May 21th 1969 at the Dearborn Ford assembly plant and sold new at Metro Ford Sales. This Shelby GT500 SCJ had the benefit of being factory optioned with many unique, ultra rare and highly desirable options. For one, it was special ordered in striking special order Grabber Orange exterior. Additional options include; oil cooler, upgraded connecting rods, crankshaft, pistons, flywheel/flexplate, and harmonic balancer all of which were a mandatory with the Super Cobra Jet option. It is powered its numbers matching 428 Super Cobra Jet engine backed by the factory optioned 4 speed manual transmission. This unique and truly special Shelby SCJ has always been well taken care of as evident through the fact that it retains most of its original interior and is in excellent overall condition. As well, the original selling dealer’s logo is still affixed to the trunk lid. To keep this car looking its best the paint has been redone and the engine has been rebuilt and nicely detailed. Factory equipment includes a 3.91 traction-lok differential, sports deck rear seat, power steering, power front disc brakes, tilt-away steering wheel, power ventilation, AM radio, intermittent windshield wipers, visibility group, the Shelby installed equipment includes Lucas fog lights, 140speedo/8,000rpm tach, roll bar, shoulder harness, console gauges, and more.

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
