General description :
This 1962 Mercury Comet has a cool style all of its own. It has a very classic exterior, subtly upgraded interior, improved suspension, and terrific V8 power. So you're looking at something that's powerful, cool, and distinctive... all for an affordable price.
The Comet was built for this speedy look. The front overhang, long/thin tailfins, and afterburner style tail lights make for the right place to start for a custom build. As you'll see from the motor and suspension, this is the kind of car that could easily get away with an upgrade to a wild paint theme, but we really like how it already is presented. The trim tag tells us black is the factory-correct color, and it has an older respray that gives off the aged-in impression. The front end has a cool classic bright chrome presentation, and so that goes well with the upgraded smoothie wheels. And the full-length trim shows off the straightness of the sheetmetal. So it really gives the impression of an everyday classic, and sleepers like this are always cool.
The appeal of the interior is as clear as black and white, literally. There has been a solid investment here to intertwine the high contrast colors on the seats, side panels, headliner, and carpeting. It not only feels fresh, but there are also cool details, like the Comet logo embossed in the door panels. While this goes for a very classic style, there are some well-done driver upgrades. For example, the classic steering wheel is now on a tilt column. And your right hand is instantly attracted to the B&M floor shifter.
One look under the hood, and you'll know this Comet has out-of-this-world power. This is Ford's mighty 351 cubic-inch V8. It was built for added muscle with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, upgraded intake, and headers that feed a sweet-sounding dual exhaust. Plus, this has the right supporting components, like an aluminum radiator, dual brake master cylinder, and the battery relocated over the rear axle for better weight distribution. As you look underneath, you're going to spot terrific upgrades like the tubular A-arm front end, a triangulated four-link rear w/adjustable coilovers, and sway bars front & rear. Plus, the three-speed automatic transmission, modern tires, and upgraded front disc brakes make this a good all-around driver.
Power, distinction, and affordability rarely come together this nicely, so don't miss your chance to catch this Comet. Call today!!!
