Here we have a 1988 Ford Mustang ASC McLaren for sale. Just over a 1,000 of this ASC McLarens were done for '88 being numbered 480-1494. The one we have for you is showing just over 30K miles and looks to be mostly original while also featuring the one year only Black Cherry color of which only 27 were done The body on it has been phenomenal cared for as all the body lines flow beautifully from front to back. Down the sides are arrow straight and all the gaps are even and symmetrical with excellent fit of the doors, hood and trunk. It's covered in the Black Cherry paint that has been kept polished to gorgeous finish that's slick as a ribbon. The convertible top is done in the Wine color scheme the red stitching that compliments the black cherry perfectly. All the glass is in great condition as well and goes up and down with ease. Both the front and rear bumpers don't show any signs abuse and are just as impressive as the rest of the body. To finish off the stance it's sitting on the factory 15” McLaren Wheels that are done with the Gold Accent.
Next, we will look at the interior of this ASC. On the inside it's done in the factory options and looks to be nearly all original. The tan color scheme is a beautiful compliment to the exterior color scheme. Both door panels are in excellent condition and show little to no wear. Of course, it comes with Power Windows and Power Door Locks, and we can see the factory ASC sticker is till in the door jam. It features the front bucket seats that still have the original seat covers that are stunning. This is Five Speed car that has the factory shifter along with the factory radio in the console. Looking at the dash it's equally impressive and we can see that this was car number 1477 making it one of the last few offered for '88. All the gauges are working as they should and are in great condition. The factory steering wheel is in great condition along with all the carpet. Inside the trunk is rock solid and is a clear example of how to care for a classic convertible.
Finally, we will get to the driveline of this '88. Under the hood it sports the Ford powertrain featuring the high output 5.0L V8 engine. We can see everything looks correct like it would have when cruising the streets off the showroom floor. There's no denying the exceptional effort that went into preserving this classic. All the firewall and inner fenders are rock solid with no signs of abuse or damage. This Mustang came equipped with AC that is working. It also came set up with factory Power Brakes featuring disc on the front. This 5.0L Engine is mated to the Borg Warner T5 Manual Trans and stock rear end. Equipment wise it sports all the stock GT equipment that would have come on the Mustang with no mods to the chassis from ASC/McLaren. When you look under it, we can see that the floor pans and frame are all rock solid and that it shows no signs of being abused. On the highway it runs and drives excellent as it shifts through the gears with ease and is a blast to drive. This stunning piece of classic car history is ready to turnkey and make memories while you cruise back in time.

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
