Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Indianapolis is proud to present this 1965 Ford Mustang GT "K" Code Convertible 4-Speed! In the mid 60's Ford developed and released a car that would become one of the longest produced cars in American History! We all know the story of the Mustang, the quintessential Pony Car that took America by storm! While even today these cars are loved and we are happy there are many of these ponies still around; however, there are some breads of the Mustang that are rarer, and that you don't see as often. To get a 4bbl 289 in 1965 you had to step up to at least an "A" Code GT and those are rarer for sure. But if you want to pack a serious punch there was the optional "K" Code GT. The power difference was substantial. The 2bbl 289 "C" Code was 200hp, 4bbl 289 "A" code was 225hp. But the "K" Code pushed the fire-breathing ponies up to 271hp, made possible by the solid-lifter cam, 4-barrel carburetor, open-element air cleaner, dual-point distributor and high-flow exhaust manifolds. "K" Codes are very rare, a more than that this one is a convertible, and beyond that it's a 4-speed manual! One seriously scarce pony. And to top it all off she garnered 1st Prize at the AACA Nationals (Antique Automobile Club of America)
The Vintage Burgundy paint with white GT stripes is stunning across the nice bright chrome and the white soft-top. The double red stripped tires complete the stance. Inside you'll find white and black pony luxury package interior which looks so clean. The white Pony interior supplies uniquely shaped seat cushions, wood-grain trim, molded door panels and a 3-spoke wood steering wheel. She even has January 1965 dated FoMoCo seat belts. Per the owner, under the hood is the factory "K" Code 271hp 4bbl 289ci V8, with that power at your fingertips through a 4-Speed manual gearbox. What an extensive restoration done by Performance Motors, no doubt is what helped her garner the AACA National First Prize! Other features of note is she is a Rally Pac car, has 5-dial dash instrumentation, and the GT Package. That adds the Special Handling Package, front disc brakes, quicker-ratio steering, rocker-panel stripes, fog lights and trumpet exhaust tips.
Current owner has had her for over 3 years. Title is clean and clear and ready to be transferred into your name now! Odometer shows 43k miles and per the owner it is believed actual. These cars are far too rarely seen. Don't miss your chance to add this beauty to your collection and call us today! Options on this Mustang include: Manual Convertible Top, Rally Pack, GT Package, AM/FM Radio, and Seat Belts. About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
