Ford Sedan 350 V8 1939

General description : 1939 Ford  (Split Window) Sedan Custom Arguably one of the coolest front ends ever designed has to belong to the 39 and 40 Fords.  With just the right accents these cars had a look all their own.  From the headlight buckets to the chrome grill everything is just right.  This 1939 Ford Sedan is an original steel car except for the front fenders and running boards which have been replaced with fiberglass.  Covering the sleek 39 body is a two tone Purple and Silver with pearl that shines beautifully out in the sun.  As if the front end wasn't cool enough, being a sedan means this classic has that long sloping roofline that continues all the way back to the chrome rear bumper. Plus you get that classic split window. You really can't beat the look of that profile.  The chrome on the car has a great shine as does the stainless trim which came from a 40 Ford.  Brand new tires were just added and nicely wrap around the Cragar SS wheels. The car was constructed only 15,000 miles ago and only 5,000 miles ago the drivetrain received a complete rebuild.  Under the hood is a 350 V8 (300hp) motor that runs well and is topped with tons of chrome.  It is a 4 bolt main motor with 400 heads and a gear drive set up.  It produces plenty of power and runs strong.  A new aluminum radiator has been installed which utilizes dual push and pull electric fans to keep it always running cool.  A T700 automatic transmission backs up the V8 and moves through the gears smoothly.  Power brakes were added with discs up front. The front suspension nhas been completely rebuilt with all new bushings, etc.  It does not have power steering but a new manual rack and pinion is in place which makes turning the wheel easy.  Air shocks are found in the rear which just makes driving it even smoother.    The car has been completely rewired (front to back) using a new Painless Performance harness.  The interior is complete in two tone gray cloth with a split bench seat up front.  The dash of the car utilizes some of the stock trim but has been customized with a JVC AM/FM/CD player.  VDO gauges are mounted in a billet bezel and all work properly.  A feature some older hotrodders will be sure to point out is the signal light viewer found on the dash which are always a nice conversation piece.  A tilt column sits nicely in front of the driver and is topped with a LeCarra steering wheel.  It has power windows throughout as well as power door locks.  The trunk of the car is finished out nicely as well with the Ford emblem incorporated into the upholstery.

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
