Citroen DS 1964

General description : An early 1964 DS19? Rare. A DS with just 33,000 km on the clock from new? Very rare. A 1964 Citroën DS19 Pallas with only 31,000 km and almost in her original coat of paint? Unique! As per usual with this kind of cars, this Citroën DS has a special history. When new it belonged to a Parisian doctor. Unfortunately, he was only destined to enjoy the car for a few years. After he had died his widow could not face parting with the car. What normally happens with a car that is kept in a damp garage, absolutely did not happen in our case. The car was put on blocks under a cover of blankets in a dry and warm garage. That is how you transform a normal car into a proper time capsule. In 2005 the car was bought by a family member when the counter stood at 27,900 km. Since then the car has always been part of a collection. Since 2015 the car formed part of the previous owners' collection. This is a very well preserved unrestored car. Paint testing revealed that 95% of the paint is original with only a very small portion of the righthand door having been resprayed (possibly before delivery due to transportation damage). The “Gris Palladium” finish is not only almost completely original is in prime condition, looking great. The bodywork is also perfect. The fine panelwork has correct alignment. All of the brightwork is similarly in great shape. The interior reveals the fact this is a very early Pallas. The connoisseurs recognise early editions by the presence of the black ashtray, the pull knobs for the bonnet release and hight regulator without synthetic material or other coverings which feature in later Pallas versions. It has a pristine “Rouge Carmin” interior trim. The headlining, carpets, dashboard and boot upholstery too are all absolutely pristine. In 2017 the DS19 Pallas was taken to DS expert Bart Kocken with the requirement to make the car mechanically perfect. The previous owner wanted to drive the car every now and again and believed this would only be possible in a mechanically 100% sound car. A lot of work was done totalling a mighty € 21,000. The detailed invoices are naturally included in the car’s itinerary. Since then only an additional 2,200 km has been driven taken her up to her current mileage. The perfectly running 1.9 litre 4-cylinder engine puts out some 83 Ps. There is a perfectly working 4-speed manual gearbox. The hydraulic suspension brakes all work perfect following the thorough work done. The car not only looks new it actually is as good as new. The car has not only been very well preserved but everything else related to it has too. There are many stickers and labels as well as the manual and even pictures of the car with its old French hand-painted number plate. A Citroën DS19 Pallas is a rare sight these days. This car is of such outstanding quality that it is incomparable to any other car. This is most probably the very best Citroën DS19 Pallas in the world. This car is a must for any serious collector or Citroën enthusiast who will not take anything but the very best! Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975! About Citroen
French industrialist André Citroën had been building arms for the French army during WWI by the end of the war he was left with great industrial facilities but no product for the post war market.

In 1919 he founded Citroen that became the first mass-production car company outside the USA[3] and a pioneer of the modern marketing as well as factory backed services network. Mind you, even Eiffel Tower served as a billboard for Citroën from 1925 to 1934 -Mon Dieu, monsier!

Soon Citroën earned a reputation for innovation and revolutionary engineering. Staying true to their slogan "Créative Technologie" Citroën has many "firsts" under their belt:

Europe’s first all-steel-bodied car, the B10 In 1934.

The world's first mass-produced front-wheel drive car,Traction Avant, (also one of the first cars to feature a monocoque-type body)

The world's first hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension system, introduced with the revolutionary Citroën DS / ID models in 1955, as well as the first production car with disc brakes.

Swiveling headlights in 1967, and finally variable assist power steering in 1970

With Citroën purchasing Maserati in 1968 a door opened for a high speed GT-model that would compete with Ferrari, Aston Martin et. al, when introduced Citroen SM was the world's fastest fwd-car.
