Ford Ranchero 5.0L HO Crate Motor 1967

General description : 1967 Ford Fairlane Ranchero When people picture classic car/truck combos or American "utes" their mind typically goes to the El Camino.  However, Ford beat Chevy to the punch as they put out their coupe utility vehicle a whole 2 years earlier.  It was cleverly named the Ranchero and featured a stylized Longhorn as its symbol.  The theme was the "American Southwest" and they wanted to show it was built for the town and country because it was "More than a car and more than a truck!"  They are very unique vehicles and filled an untapped niche market so it was well received by the public.  They could now have the utility of a pickup with the smooth riding ability of a car.  Even more unique than the Ranchero itself is what occurred in 1967 where there was a one year only version based on the Fairlane body style.  This incorporated Fairlane trim, double stacked headlights and a whole new look that was far from Falcon.  This very clean 1967 pushes that uniqueness even further as it has been fully modified to be a great looking and great driving pro touring car.  You aren't going to see many others, if any, done to this level of build.  The owner had a dream to head off on the Hot Rod Power Tour and knew what it would take to make that happen.  The owner and a combination of various professional shops worked together to complete the task and they utilized all the right stuff needed to create a long distance driver.  In 2017 the process was finished and it completed the long haul Hot Rod Power Tour that same year.  The body of the car is very straight with no signs of rust or previous damage.  It is painted in a beautiful PPG code 16429 Rich Blue Metallic that really comes to life when you get it out in the sun.  It has no orange peel or dings so the prep and finish work was done right.  The chrome throughout has a beautiful shine and it wears a very cool spear design trim down the side that is factory original.  It has all of its original Ranchero emblems including that Longhorn on the tailgate.  Over the bed it has a very well designed tonneau cover to keep all your gear protected.  It sits on a set of American Racing wheels (17"-front, 18"-rear) with Michelin 245/45ZR tires that have 80% tread left.  Turning the tires is a 5.0L HO crate motor that starts up well and runs strong.  It has been fitted with a FiTech fuel injection system, an Edelbrock performer intake, Ford Racing valve covers, and a chrome air cleaner.  In the engine compartment itself the original shock towers have been removed which not only cleans it up but allows a significant amount of additional room.  The transmission is a Ford T-5 5 speed transmission with a hydraulic clutch that shifts smoothly and glides the car around town and down the highway well.  It has power brakes (disc front, drum rear) and GM power rack & pinion so driving it is a breeze.  The ride is smooth as well with double a-arms with coilovers and a Rod & Custom front suspension.  Weekend cruiser, long haul show car, or daily driver...it can do it all.   The interior of it is all custom leather and looks just as good as the day it was installed.  It has a split bench seat done in Black with Tan inserts that really fit perfectly with the "rustic" feeling Ford wanted for the Ranchero originally.  It also features retractable seat belts.  On the floor is a custom console to house the shifter and also provide cupholders and storage space.  In our photos you will note the FiTech fuel injection controller sitting in one of those cupholders.  The dash is very nicely painted Black and topped with a Black dash pad that is in great shape.  The original gauges are in place but a custom pod has been added under the dash for Pro Comp Autometer temp/oil/amp gauges and it also has a Sport Comp Autometer tach mounted to the column.  The A/C system is from Classic AutoAir and blows through hard to find factory AC vents.  Another cool feature is the factory AM radio has now been converted to AM/FM and bluetooth. This is a very neat classic that you just don't see many of.  This one has been driven 2,388 miles on it since being completed so it has a long life ahead of it with many more miles of enjoyment to provide the new owner.     Get this pro touring classic for the very reasonable price of $36,000.00!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
