De motor leverde een vermogen van 200 pk (5800 rpm) en een koppel van 286 Nm (4000 rpm). Er was ruimte voor twee volwassenen en twee kinderen (2+2). Het SLC model met gesloten carrosserie was in totaal 36 cm langer en had hierdoor vier volwaardige zitplaatsen.

Production started in April 1971 the 350SL and 350SLC both had a 3.5-liter V8, electronic fuel injection (Bosch D-Jetronic) and a manual 4-course or a 3-course automatic transmission as an option. The engine produced a power output of 200 hp (5800 rpm) and a torque of 286 Nm (4000 rpm). There was room for two adults and two children (2 + 2). The SLC model with closed bodywork was 36 cm longer and has four fully-fledged seats. This car is a rally car with a FIA card.
