If you like the idea of a go-anywhere, do-anything truck but you don’t like the idea of joining the Land Rover/Land Cruiser/Jeep/Scout crowds, MotoeXotica Classic Cars has the vehicle for you in this 1969 Nissan Patrol 4×4 Three-door Hardtop!
The truck’s previous owner reported bought it from a California movie studio several years ago. The Patrol had been in movie car inventory for decades, appearing in films and television shows, most notably the film, “Argo,” a 2012 American historical drama directed by Ben Affleck. A certificate of authenticity is included.
This example is just one of 1,641 units exported to the United States between 1961 and 1969 so it is an ultra rare find! The previous owner reportedly sought a complete, survivor Patrol because of their rarity and cool factor. After buying it, the owner decided not to restore it because in his words, the exterior patina is “awesome” and its “floors and all sheetmetal is what we car guys dream about.”
As referenced above, the paint and trim are in great, original condition, its patina is fantastic. The Patrol’s bodywork is straight and, the engine bay is very tidy, the cargo area is in very good order and the black front bumper’s patina matches the rest of the exterior. There’s also a jerry can in the rear.
This Patrol wears older Bridgestone Desert Dueler light truck tires, size 7.00-15 at all four corners. Each tire is mounted on good, original steel wheels. The tires and wheels are in good, original order, showing its age.
The original electric system is in complete working order. All the lights, signals, wipers, heater work perfectly, however gauges are inoperable and antenna is broken.  It has its original Koto headlights, marker lights, reverse light and reflectors. It comes with its original front and rear license plate brackets, a hand crank starter, original oil bath cleaner and heater.
It has its original glass panels, including windshield. It retains four of its original split-ring rims. The rear jump seats appear original and are in great condition. The front seats have been reupholstered. Beyond the front seats, the rest of the interior is original.  While sold on an actual mileage Arizona Title, the odometer is inoperable with mileage showing 20,450.0
American customers could get Patrols only from 1962 until 1969. Patrols were sold through Datsun dealerships, making it the only Nissan-badged vehicle sold in the USA until the early 1980s when the Datsun marque was phased out (barring a small test batch of about 100 Nissan Cedrics that was also exported to the USA in the early 60s). An extra-long wheelbase version, the H60, was also available.
The 4WD Nissan Patrol 60 series was produced in short, medium and long wheel-base versions. It had a manual transmission type-F3B83L at first with three and later with four speeds, two-speed transfer case with part-time four-wheel drive. The motor was the P engine, a 241 CID inline overhead-valve six-cylinder, featuring bathtub-shaped combustion chambers and a fully balanced seven-bearing crank shaft.
Competitors to this Patrol in 1969 included AMC’s Jeep CJ-5, Chevrolet’s K5 Blazer, Ford’s Bronco, International’s Scout 800A, Land Rover’s Series IIA and Toyota’s Land Cruiser.
