Porsche 911 SC 1980

General description : No, the Porsche 911SC 3.1 is not a myth, it really exists! When in 1978 Porsce introduced the 911 Super Carrera (SC) 3.0 it had only 180hp, which was 20hp less than the Carrera 3.0 that already lacked in power compared to the 911 2.7 MFI models. Due the emission requirements Porsche was forced to downgrade their madels step-by-step. Or was it yet another stunt by Porsche to brighten up the 240hp Porsche 928 that was also introduced back then?

Anyway, after a lot of complaints by Porsche its customers, and the gigantic ask after the ‘dying’ 911, Porsche found themselves in a difficult position where they couldn’t deliver a toned-down model to their top clients. Commissioned by Porsche, the Porsche-dealer Max Moritz and Alois Ruf did some minor changes to a handful of 911SC 3.0, such as: Higher compression-ratio, 3.3 turbo cylinders adapted to 3.1 litres, revised cooling, higher fuel pressure and bigger bores and larger strokes ( from 95mm to 98mm), aswell a 915 gearbox with a longer 5th gear. This all togheter was good for a spectacular 210hp, allowing Porsche to sell a more powerfull ‘SC 3.0’ to their top client.

This offered example was first delivered in 1980 to a German owner and is thus one of only a few infamous 911SC 3.1’s built by Porsche. This 911 was finished in the very desired ‘Oak Green metallic’ with black leather interior. This Porsche finds itself today in an excellent condition with matching numbers and – colors. The car runs smoothly and drives a lot better than a ‘standard’ SC 3.0. The engine of this SC3.1 starts pulling hard at 2800RPM whereas the it does at 3300RPM for the SC3.0. On top of that is this 911 SC 3.1 a 100kg lighter than the 911 Carrera ‘G’ 3.2. Optional came with this car the sports seats and electric sunroof.

It’s needless to say that this 3.1 takes the real title of the ‘Super Carrera’.
This ultra rare and ‘secret’ Porsche 911SC 3.1 is now available at Rock ’N Roll Classics.

About Porsche 911 SC
The Porsche 911 is a highly desirable sports car that is sought after by many automotive enthusiasts. However, for those who are just starting their journey into the world of classic Porsches, the Porsche 3.0 CS can serve as a stepping stone to the 911 world.

The Porsche 3.0 CS is a classic sports car produced by Porsche between 1974 and 1975. It features a sleek and timeless design, with classic Porsche design cues such as the long hood, round headlights, and sloping roofline. It is powered by a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. The car also features a fully independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, which provide a sporty and responsive driving experience.

One of the key benefits of the Porsche 3.0 CS as a stepping stone to the 911 world is its relative affordability. While the 911 can be quite expensive, especially for those seeking out rarer or more desirable models, the 3.0 CS can often be found for a fraction of the cost. This makes it a more accessible entry point into the world of classic Porsches, allowing enthusiasts to get a taste of Porsche performance and engineering without breaking the bank.

Additionally, the 3.0 CS shares many design and engineering similarities with the 911, including the same engine and transmission options. This means that enthusiasts can learn about and become familiar with Porsche's engineering and design philosophy before investing in a more expensive 911 model.

Overall, the Porsche 3.0 CS can serve as an excellent stepping stone to the 911 world, providing enthusiasts with a more affordable and accessible entry point into the world of classic Porsches, while still delivering a sporty and engaging driving experience.
