Looking for next instant classic? In the form from the golden age of Japanese super sports cars? Another Japanese just-became-a-classic-car landed at MotoeXotica Classic Cars, a 1996 Nissan 300ZX twin turbo that still sports it’s original and highly sought after Ultra Red paint. This is 1996 twin turbo model and was the last year for the US market and Nissan only imported 577 Twin Turbos in that final year so this model year is by far the rarest and most collectible. The 300ZX market unfortunately went through a severe depreciation period yet much worse than its Japanese counterparts (Supra, RX7, NSX) and a lot of these cars got trashed and abused by teenagers and street racers so excellent examples are extremely hard to come by in today’s market especially the desired twin turbo model. Resulting that this particular example we have for sale will be a very solid long term investment as long as condition is preserved. This final year 300ZX is a must have for a serious Datsun/Nissan Z collectors! If you have more interest in a low mile preserved manual transmission 300ZX Twin Turbo please be sure to check out our 1991 available here:http://www.motoexotica.com/inventory/listing/1991-nissan-300zx/
The final year low production 300ZX that were shipped to the states were loaded up with many options as this one is equipped with Air Conditioning, Automatic transmission, Dual Front Airbags, Bose Premium Brand AM/FM Radio, 4-Wheel ABS Power Brakes, Leather Steering Wheel, Cruise Control, Keyless Entry Multi-Function Remote, Power Steering, Rear Limited Slip Differential, Rear Spoiler, Tachometer, Exterior Entry Lights, Front Fog Lights, Power Side Mirror Adjustments, Heated Side Mirrors, T-Tops Removable Roof, Driver Seat Power Adjustments Bucket Front Seats, Alarm Anti-Theft System, Power Door Locks, 4-Wheel Steering, Factory Polished Alloy Wheels, Intermittent Front Wipers, Power Windows, Rear Wiper, Rear Window Defogger and much more.
This example, made in Kanagawa, Japan, is dressed in an Ultra Red (code AJ4) exterior with a black interior (code G), including leather seats. The original paint is in overall excellent condition but there is a discolored stripe on the hood left from a protection bra and a minor blemish on the driver’s side door. The original glass panels are all clear and crack-free, including the tinted T-tops, while the lights look great, as this car was always stored in a garage under a cover when not being used. This car rolls on Fuzion ZR1 radials, 225/50R16 in front and 245/45R16 in rear, surrounding factory five-spoke polished aluminum wheels. The tires and wheels are in very good order, as are the car’s bumpers.
All of the car’s body panels are straight and solid and sports original paint, the engine bay is very tidy and still looks showroom fresh!Inside, the black leather bucket seats are in excellent condition, while the matching carpet looks very good. The instrument panel, with its dual airbags, is intact and looks great. The four-spoke steering wheel is in great condition, as are the inner door panels, though there is minor staining on the passenger side. The mirror glass, center console and shift lever are all in very good order. Rounding out the interior is a factory Bose AM/FM stereo with cassette deck.
The production 3.0L VG30DETT engine was first developed for the 1987MID4-IIconcept. It was the last of Nissan’s four-valve, belt-drivenDOHCturbocharged engines put into production. It is equipped with hybrid twin T22/TB02 turbochargers, which were developed exclusively for Nissan, twin intercoolers, andNVTCS(Nissan’s Valve Timing Control System). The VG30DETT utilizes an iron block with aluminum heads. Backing up the engine is a four-speed automatic transmission, (RE4R03A).
Other changes for the 1996 model year were:
Variable cam timing (NVTC) dropped due to emission regulations
OBD IIelectronics introduced
Driver’s seat back rest no longer included adjustable side bolsters
