Chevrolet C20 Resto-Mod 5.3L LS V8 Vortec 1968

Allgemeine Beschreibung : Description
We sell a lot of "Glamour Era" Action Line Chevrolet pickup trucks like this gorgeous 1968 example, but not many are the heavier-duty C20 models, which today we might call a ¾-ton. Furthermore, not many have been punched-up with the rock-solid reliability and performance of a modern restomod truck, nor with a high-impact curb appeal that leave onlookers clamoring to take a closer peek. With just over 500 miles on the build, this dialed-in, LS-powered LWB Chevy is ready to dominate for years to come, and it's ready to do it in style.
First and foremost, this is a big truck - the heavier-duty C-20 instead of the usual C-10 - but the beautiful Atomic Orange paint masks its size and gives it a very sleek, modern look. And despite being a big hauler, it sure doesn't look like it was ever used for that, but rather a clean southern truck that's lived the good life in the sun. It has an 8-foot bed which is far more practical than the short bed and given the size of the truck, it makes for great proportions that suit it perfectly. It's evident that there was a good deal of cash wrapped up in the bodywork, which is straight and clean, with straight panel alignment that shows in the way the rocker panel forms an unbroken line between the wheels. The paint is from a modern color palette but on the squared-off old Chevy it looks fantastic with a deep shine and great surfaces, and despite it having a few minor imperfections here and there, the overall look is very strong. Good gaps and lots of time block sanding those long, long bed sides means that this one holds up pretty well under most scrutiny, and unlike many of its contemporaries, it hasn't been customized or altered in any serious way. Nice details abound, including a custom billet grille up front, twin chrome mirrors with integrated digital turn signals, a great-looking set of chrome bumpers fore and aft, and smooth profiles bereft of any side trim. Out back the bed was beautifully finished with shiny wood planks and chrome slats, and it's so darn nice back there you'll think twice before loading it up with anything too dirty.
You get more than just a working-class interior with this truck, as it's been custom-fitted with a pair of late-model bucket seats and an array of performance touches that do a great job of seamlessly integrating the new with the old. The result is a comfortable cab that stresses function and form, and the sculpted buckets and middle console set the tone inside. That beautiful and very comfortable seat upholstery is matched with a set of heavy-duty black carpets, black door panels, and a black dash pad that work together for an all-in-one feel. The original gauges are gone, replaced by a set of very clean, crisp Dakota Digital dials that look like they were practically born there, and the Terminator X that's neatly mounted to the dash controls the fuel-injection set-up for the motor up ahead. There's a retro-style AM/FM stereo head unit in the dash and powerful modern A/C unit that's blowing ice cold, so it feels quite up-to-date from behind the sporty, leather-wrapped steering wheel that hangs on a polished tilt column.
Strong V8 power is a big reason why trucks remain so popular, and the 5.3L Vortec LS V8 motor provides plenty of grunt to make this truck feel lively. Thanks to fuel injection and a mild cam inside the block, it starts, idles, and drives extremely well, with responsive power that never seems fussy, and it's only got 565 miles on the build so it's still quite fresh. A Spectra cold-air intake and polished intake atop the block keeps everything looking suitably detailed under the hood, and those dress-up items really pop out from the black inner fenders and orange firewall. A custom serpentine belt drive system powers the accessories, a big aluminum radiator keeps the block nice and cool, and ceramic-coated long-tube headers feed a rumbling X-pipe dual exhaust system below. A heavy-duty 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission and heavy-duty 10-bolt rear end mean this truck doesn't mind the heavy stuff if you want to head to Home Depot this weekend and the tidy undercarriage suggests a lifetime in a warm climate and not the rust belt. Power steering power front disc brakes give the truck great road manners, and sway bars fore and aft and freshened shocks all around set the stance and ensure a great ride every time out. Flashy Ultra wheels look great and suitably beefy on the C20 and carry 245/65/17 Michelin truck tires that fill the fenders perfectly.
With a recent build and upgrades galore, this Chevy C20 gets all the important stuff right. Don't sit out another turn, take this one home and have some fun. Call now!
