Buick Skylark Stage 1 455 V8 1974

Allgemeine Beschreibung : Beautiful, interesting, and extremely rare. Few people even knew that Buick made a handful of Grand Sport coupes in 1974, and most of them had the smaller 350ci motor. This is one of the few 579 that were snuck out the door with a big 455 V8. It one only gets better and rarer as you see this is a real-deal numbers-matching Stage 1 coupe! So look over all the details on this awesome and loaded seldom-seen muscle car.
This is the end of an era for Buicks. It was the final year the mighty 455 went into any intermediate with the Grand Sport name, and so you know this is something special. In fact, these Century models only got the GS treatment for a few short years. It was part of the restyle for the distinct colonnade-roof coupes that practically defined the 1970s. And the premium Buicks really seemed to wear this upper-class style well. There's a beautiful crease that sweeps from the headlights all the way through the doors. The bright chrome front bumper accentuates the sharply pointed center of this design, and the rear one still knows how to fit in as an integral part of the overall design. More than just elegant, this GS is aggressive. That's why it's great to see it in a gloss black that's also not too afraid to have fun on the streets. And the upgraded 22-inch wheels gives this a custom look while letting you fit modern sport tires.
The Oxblood interior offers the aggressive feeling of red, but with deeper and more sophisticated tones. That's especially true for seats with their intricate stitching and button-top presentation. More of the premium feeling continues with the wood applique on the door panels and center console. And while that gives you cool vintage vibes, this one also has great modern upgrades. There's an AM/FM/CD stereo w/Bluetooth, hands-free calling, and provisions for R134a air conditioning (it will need servicing.) This is a great driver-oriented setup with front bucket seats, a horseshoe shifter, a gauge panel that wraps around you, and a great-looking Buick three-poke sports steering wheel mounted on a tilt column.
The most important component of this very-correct Buick is what fills the engine bay. The 455 cubic-inch V8 was the largest motor that was exclusively made by Buick, and the Stage 1 option meant large valves and more power. This is the numbers-matching engine, giving this GS an impressive pedigree. Plus, this one is built for added muscle with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, one-inch spacer, and Edelbrock intake. This was the era when horsepower figures were downgraded, but the real story here is the mountain of torque. You will really understand how impressive the motor is when this one gets up and runs strong from a standstill. TH400 three-speed automatic was one of the few transmissions that could handle this kind of torque. It also makes it a nice driver, especially with power steering, power brakes, front discs, and sway bars front & rear.
This is the last of the really great 455ci Grand Sports. So it's amazing that something this significant, powerful, and all-around awesome is also so affordable. Call today!!!
