About Borgward
Borgward was a German car manufacturer based in Bremen founded by Carl F. W. Borgward hence the name. The Borgward group eventually held four different brands: Borgward, Hansa, Goliath and Lloyd.

Although, technically advanced Borgward always suffered financially due to lack of competitiveness compared with bigger companies with economies of scale. In addition Borgward failed to divide development cost between the different brands via sharing platforms and components. This led to a bankruptcy in 1961.
