General description :
1956 Buick Special - Custom Combining lake pipes, shaved doors and pearl paint with the original styling's of a classic Buick makes this 1956 Special custom one attention grabbing classic. Coated in a House of Kolor black sparkle pearl the car has a beautiful shine that really shows off best out in the sun. The top is painted white to contrast the grey and ties in well with the wide white wall tires. Despite being shaved of any door handles the trim pieces were left in place which is a great thing because there is just nothing like the stainless work on this style of car. Pinstriping graces the nosed front and decked rear adding to the nostalgic old school style this car has. Large bumpers are found in front and rear and all of that chrome as a great shine. All of the glass is in good condition and is topped with a light tint. Blacked out wheels sit under all four corners and each is fitted with a chrome center cap and chrome lugs. The old school look doesn't just stop with the exterior because powering this classic is a 215 Fireball V8 that all old hot rodders will recognize. When first created these motors were the lightest mass produced V8 motor ever built despite being the same dimensions as a small block Chevy engine. The majority of the motor is painted green as it would have been originally and is topped with an oil bath air cleaner. The car runs well and cruises down the road comfortably. It has a nice rumble with lake pipes on both sides which are polished to a nice finish and are capped with Von Dutch flying eye ball caps. The ignition switch is located below the pedal and with an easy push of the gas the car starts right up. Backing the motor is an automatic transmission that shifts smoothly with no problems. Power steering is in place which is a stock feature proudly advertised on the original style steering wheel. The interior of the car is complete in a red and black combination and is very comfortable. The bench seats allow plenty of room and have been fitted with matching Red seatbelts. The dash has been painted to match and utilizes a lot of the stock style trim and components including the original ribbon speedometer. An aftermarket Kenwood AM/FM/CD player has been mounted below the dash but original Sonomatic AM radio still sits in its original position. Power windows have been added and utilize after market style controls. The trunk of the car houses a spare and offers plenty of storage space. Buick, today an American automobile division of the American manufacturer General Motors (GM), was founded in 1899 as the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company, making it the oldest car make in the US.
To us, the most memorable models in Buick's line up have to be the late 40's Roadmasters and 60's stylish Rivieras with strong Italian influences.
