Buick Skylark 340 CI 1967

General description : CLEAN SOUTHERN LAND-YACHT, 340 V8, AUTO, PWR STEERING/BRAKES, COLLECTOR OWNED!!

Yes, there are still bargains out there, and this 1967 Buick Skylark sedan is an unusual but highly competent and fun to drive alternative to the ho-hum Chevys and Dodges running around. Upscale good looks, a torquey V8, and plenty of room for the family make it a winner for the guy who wants to cruise in style and comfort.
The Skylark was Buick's mid-sized offering in 1967, but to our eyes today, it's definitely full-sized. But being big doesn't mean clumsy, and even this 4-door looks trim and athletic, as if it was shrink-wrapped around the working bits. It's stylish in a restrained way and with the medium blue paint, which Buick called Sapphire Blue, is quite appealing. At a glance this is one of those well-maintained cars that has led an easy life; it's been repainted, but it was a few years ago and overall it has a great look that isn't glaringly modern or visibly deteriorated and we like it a lot. All four doors fit well and close with a kind of mechanical precision that we've lost in our cars today, and the optional fender skirts make it look long and low indeed. Most of the chrome and stainless trim is probably original, so there's a light dusting of pitting on some of the parts, but none of it is visible without very close inspection and it does absolutely nothing to detract from the overall look.
Matching blue upholstery inside may very well be original, as we don't know of any reproduction seat covers for a Skylark sedan. The interesting patterns give it a great look and pieces like the door panels and headliner, which are undoubtedly original, remain in excellent shape. The familiar Buick 3-spoke steering wheel has a funky, different look and it neatly frames the wide instrument panel. An angled shelf holds the secondary controls and the original AM radio, which remains fully functional. The carpets are surely replacements, they're just too deep and rich to be 50 years old, and they help keep the interior quiet the way a Buick should be. By today's standards, the back seat is massive, with plenty of room for full-sized adults, making this a great road trip car, and as you can see, the upholstery remains almost as new. The long quarter panels also mean there's a giant trunk, which carries what appears to be the original bias-ply spare tire.
Buick's rugged and reliable 340 cubic inch V8 was the Skylark's primary powerplant, and it has the kind of low-end grunt that makes this sedan feel quick and lively on the road. The engine bay is quite clean and authentic-looking, and the engine still inhales through the factory-issued 2-barrel carburetor, so it feels quite correct. It starts easily with that unique Buick sound from the recent single exhaust pipe, and its super flat torque curve makes it a great highway cruiser with plenty of punch. Power steering and brakes are expected in a Buick and make it easy to drive, along with the 3-speed automatic transmission. Ride quality is Buick smooth and it feels buttoned down in a way that only well-maintained cars do. There's plenty of evidence underneath that this car has spent its life in a warm, dry climate and it sits on 205/75/14 whitewall radials for a classic luxury look.
An unusual cruiser that looks great and has enough room for the entire family, all at a price that's impossible to ignore. Call today!

About Buick
Buick, today an American automobile division of the American manufacturer General Motors (GM), was founded in 1899 as the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company, making it the oldest car make in the US.

To us, the most memorable models in Buick's line up have to be the late 40's Roadmasters and 60's stylish Rivieras with strong Italian influences.
