Cadillac Eldorado 1971

General description : 1971 Cadillac FleetwoodEl Dorado Convertible, The Eldorado was apersonal luxury car manufactured and marketed by the Cadillac Division ofGeneral Motors from 1953 to 2002 over ten generations. Competitors included theLincoln Mark series and the lower-priced Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado, The Eldorado was ator near the top of the Cadillac line during early model years. When GM'sfull-size cars were redesigned for 1971, the heavier-looking Eldorado regainedboth a convertible model and its fender skirts. Although the door glass on allEldorados remained frameless, the hardtop rear quarter windows were deleted,replaced by a fixed "opera window" in the widened "C"pillar. With model year 1973 the Eldorado was removed from the Fleetwood seriesand reestablished as its own series, This generation ofEldorados produced between 1971 and 1978 were sometimes customized as seen infilms like Dolemite, Superfly, Highwaymen, The Mack, Willie Dynamite, and eventhe James Bond film Live and Let Die, 1971 was the firstyear since 1966 that a Cadillac bore the Eldorado Convertible name.
