Chevrolet Bel Air 454 V8 1955

General description : 1955 Chevrolet Custom A classic that will forever stand the test of time is the 1955 Chevrolet.  New these cars were popular and as the classic car hobby continues to grow they have continued to only become more popular.  It is interesting to think about the legacy the tri-five Chevy's have left especially when you look around at cars nowadays and realize that your 2015 daily driver will have significantly depreciated in value in 60 years while (even after doubling its age from now) this 55 will still be desirable/valuable.  There are all different styles of these cars out there from originals to street rods and the 55 you see here definitely falls into the custom category.  It has a nice bright sleek exterior, loud rumble, and lots of power while still being comfortable to drive....what more could you ask for?   The restoration was a frame off and a ton of work has been done on the car to make it the show car you see here.  It sits on a powder coated frame and the undercarriage looks great for a car that gets driven,.  The body on the car is very solid and straight with no body damage or issues.  The Purple pearl paint has a beautiful shine especially when the sun hits it just right.  The White on the rear fenders, deck lid and roof create a nice contrast that looks perfect on the car.  The side trim pieces are not actually there but instead custom airbrushing was done to create the look of the original Bel Air trim.    The bumpers are beautifully chromed and all of the stainless/chrome on the car has a nice finish.  If the deep Purple paint didn't clue you in then the tough looking Centerline wheels with 22.5x36 rear tires and aggressive stance are sure to let everyone know this isn't your Grandmas old 55.  The car came out of the factory with an inline 6 but that low HP motor is long gone.  This thing is now packing a bored .30 over big block 454 under the hood.  The engine compartment is very cleanly done with everything having a nicely finished out look.  The inner fenders, firewall, and radiator support are all nicely painted.  the battery has been relocated to the trunk with a cut off plug and the 15 gallon fuel cell is mounted in the trunk as well.  The engine sounds great through the custom exhaust routed out of the side.  A Chris Alston backhalf was installed to handle the higher performance motor and the front end was entirely rebuilt as well.  It has adjustable coil overs in front/back and rides down the road comfortably.  The 700R4 shifts like a dream and with that power wants get those tires spinning when you put your foot into it.  It has a Dana rear end with short gears but still rides down the highway fine.  Many people often think pro streeted cars don't ride well or constantly require work and that just isn't the case.  Yes, the builder of this car wanted some power but that wasn't the only goal.  Since it is used as a weekend show car there were some comforts desired as well like power steering and disc brakes which make it a really easy car to drive.    The interior is complete in a Gray tweed and is well done.  The upholstery work is nice and tight, shows very little signs of wear and is breathable making those summer drives much more enjoyable.  The dash is painted to match the body and has the original layout but has been customized as well.  The original bowtie trim piece was replaced with a billet piece and the gauge bezel now houses multiple white face gauges instead of that large original speedmoter.  The Autosound radio fits nicely in place and is a modern style stereo system built to look original and sit in the original spot in the dash.  Other important interior features include the 4 point roll bar, tilt steering column, a Grant GT steering wheel, billet pedals and tubbed rear seat area.  These 55's are always selling and with all of the great customizations this one has it is sure to be gone fast.  The first person that comes and takes it for a test drive won't be able to leave without it.  You couldn't come close to building this car for only $47,500.00!
