General description : For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a beautiful numbers matching 1962 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900. Finished in Chevrolet Ermine White paint, this 2 door hardtop Corvair has just 51,212 original miles. Options for this 1962 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900 include: AM Radio, Vinyl Interior, White Wall Radial Tires, and a Tissue Holder. The Chevrolet Corvair was the only mass produced passenger vehicle that featured an air-cooled rear mounted engine. Most remember the Corvair as a 2 door coupe and convertible, but the Corvair had a full range of platforms including: 2 door coupe and convertible, 4 door sedan and station wagon, passenger van and commercial van, and also pickup truck variants. The Corvair spanned 2 generations and was produced from 1960 to 1969. Nearly 2 million Corvairs were built during its 9 year production run. The styling was very different than anything else being produced in Detroit at the time. No tailfins or chrome grille were present, it was a simple yet elegant design. The engineering earned multiple patents, the Corvair was on the cover of Time magazine and won the Motor Trend car of year in 1960. Powering this 62' Corvair Monza 900 is the original, numbers matching 2.4L Flat 6 (horizontal 6 cylinder) engine that features twin carburetors and produced 84 horsepower. A two speed automatic transmission transfers those 84 horses to the rear wheels. The red and white vinyl interior shows minimal wear and tear and matches the exterior white paint and red pinstripe to a T. All the instrumentation works as it should, even the radio and the tissue holder. The original wiper fluid bottle is still attached in the trunk and continues to do its job masterfully. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
