Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Detroit is proud to present this 1982 Chevrolet Corvette Collector Edition for sale. This 1982 Collector Edition Corvette is a one owner car that has been taken care of since day one and it shows. The odometer may read 90952 but the car does not. In 1982 Chevrolet decided to send the C3 out with a Bang. To celebrate the last year, GM offered the Chevy Corvette Collector Edition with a higher level of standard trim and several features exclusive in the Corvette line. Production was limited to 6,759 units. The Corvette Collector Edition was painted in Silver Beige Metallic with pinstripes and graduated side and hood decals. The aluminum wheels resembled the vaned “bolt-on" wheels of the 1967 model year. It featured an operating frameless glass rear hatch, a first for the Corvette. The 1982 Chevy Corvette was also the first to feature fuel injection since 1965. Crossfire Injection is what GM called it and it featured computer controlled twin injectors. Output was rated at 200 horsepower. The only transmission available was, a four-speed automatic transmission. The Corvette's hood featured solenoid-activated doors that directed fresh air to the air cleaner at full throttle. The Collector Edition's interior featured multi-tone Silver Beige leather seat and door trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and horn button. The carpet was a little more luxurious than the standard Corvette. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
