Description : Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to offer this gorgeous Candy Apple Red Metallic 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe for sale. The '63 Corvette Coupe is better known around the world as the "Split Window" Corvette. 1963 was the first year for the 2nd generation Corvette, and the coupe was the first non-convertible Corvette offered to buyers. Although GM's top brass and Zora-Arkus Duntov disliked the split window because the pillar that split the back glass impeded rearward visibility. As a result, many Corvette coupe buyers removed the split windows, cut the "spine", and installed a single backglass. Since this happened to a good number of the '63 Corvette coupes, those that didn't receive the "surgery" have become very valuable, as the surviving intact coupes dwindled in number. The owner and builder of this gorgeous coupe has been awarded high honors in various NCRS and Concours events, as well as Bloomington Gold recognition for numerous Corvettes that he has restored and is recognized as a "Master Corvette Restorer". This 1963 Corvette Coupe is one of his dream projects, and it has been given full restomod treatment. Starting in 2014 with a '63 Corvette coupe that he found in "less than good condition", he spent a year restoring and modifying it to his desired configuration. A chief aim for the project was to build a car that could win trophies at car shows and Corvette events yet would be capable of being driven on a regular basis, and he achieved that goal. The Candy Apple Red Metallic paint is finished wonderfully, and even though this car has traveled almost 15K miles since he debuted his finished work in 2016, the paint still looks new. The tan accent paint on the stinger hood is a near identical color match to the tan interior, and while the 1963 Corvettes' hood featured "fake vents", the vents on this coupe are functional. That's a good thing, because without them, the 1963 Corvettes would experience some "lift" as speeds approached 100 MPH because of air pressure building under the hoods. Under the hood, you'll find a modern 469 HP 6.2L GM LS3 V8, which is backed by a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission, so this beast can really get up and go. A giant BeCool aluminum radiator helps keep the LS3's temperature in check, ensuring daily-driver reliability. Another modern touch is the addition of a Wilwood 4-wheel disc brake setup complete with ABS, so this bad boy can get to from 100 to zero like it gets from 0 to 100. Further assisting on-road performance, the nearly new set of Nitto NeoGen high performance radials wrap the 17-inch polished aluminum "US Mags" wheels provide great handling and super traction. And, speaking of trying out the performance capabilities this '63 'Vette offers, you'll be doing that in one of the nicest interiors that we've experienced in a C2. The high-grade tan leather that's used for the dash, console, shift knob and boot, and seats gives off that always-pleasant leather scent, and it feels "just mahvelous, dahlin'"! Drivers will enjoy both the looks and feel of the vintage walnut steering wheel, and that leather-wrapped gearshift that falls naturally to the hand. Snapping through the gears is made easier by the hydraulic clutch operation, too; but on those longer trips, being settled into 6th gear and letting the cruise control manage your speed is also a boon. Both occupants will appreciate the sound system and cold-blowing Vintage Air while they're out tooling around and getting thumbs up from everyone who sees this car on the road. Additional features include body colored-spark plug covers with gold accents, custom air intake, Air Conditioning, AM/FM/Bluetooth radio, Cruise Control, Custom Dual Exhaust, Insignia Speakers, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Borgeson Power Steering, Seat Belts, and a Stainless-Steel fuel tank. In total, this '63 "Split Window" has just what you're looking for in a drivable, collectible trophy car; so, don't miss out on this one of a kind classic restomod. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
