Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to offer a very sharp 1965 Chevrolet El Camino. Chevrolet intruduced the El Camino first in 1959 as a result of a suggestion from automotive great Harley Earl. The "Coupe Utility" was based off of the Brookwood two door station wagon, and offered a full sized pickup bed in a highly styled, low slung sedan body. The vehicle was an immediate success, outselling it's Ford competitor the Ranchero nearly 2 to 1. The second generation starting in '64 based the vehicle off of the Chevelle chassis, but initially did not offer the high horsepower Chevelle power plants. In '65 a slight facelift was introduced as well as the availability of more engines including a hot 350 HP 327 CI V8. This particular '65 El Camino model sports a 327 CI high compression block that's been bored over 30 that emulates what an L79 produced from the factory. The engine is backed to a Muncie 4-Speed Manual. Equipment includes power steering, power brakes, as well as Air Conditioning. With just 1,753 miles listed on the Odometer for the restoration completed in 2019, this example was finished in an unmistakable coat of gloss metallic Maroon which screams classic Chevy! This one also comes complete on a set of Chevy rally wheels with red line tires giving you one screaming hot little truck. The interior features refreshed tan vinyl upholstery with rustic brown inserts on the bench seat as well as a newly replaced tan carpet kit. One lap around this El Camino and you can easily understand the attention getting presence, whether at a local cruise or aiming to turn heads at the car show. The car runs and drives like it should, not to mention the deep rumble from the exhaust!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
