Chevrolet El Camino 454 V8 1971

General description : 1971 Chevrolet El Camino The idea of a 2 door vehicle on a passenger chassis with rear storage tray may have popped up in the 20's but it wasn't until 1934 that the first coupe utility was released by Ford Australia.  This was the result from a 1932 letter in which a wife requested a vehicle that they could respectably drive to church on Sundays and then be able to still take their hogs to the market on Mondays.  These vehicles, nicknamed "Utes", have a long history in Australia and it wouldn't be until 1957 with the introduction of the 1957 Ranchero that the first car/truck combo would hit the US market.  As with most new vehicle designs the other manufactures would quickly jump in to compete and Chevrolet's entry in the coupe utility field would be the legendary El Camino in 1959.  The initial run was only for two years but they later returned in 1964 and production continued until 1987.   The El Camino might be the best of both words.  The look of one of the most famous muscle cars, the Chevelle, and the usefulness of a truck bed.  The body of this 1971 is in excellent shape and all rust free.  It is painted in a very tasteful combination of metallic Silver with a metallic Gray top.  It is a nice nod to the vinyl top versions while still incorporating a slick painted finish that really pops out in the sun.  It wears all of its original style chrome and stainless trim accents which have a very nice shine.  The glass is in great shape throughout and has a slight tint.  The exterior lights are working well throughout and it has updated LED headlights up front.  The bed has a spray on liner in place as well as a cut to fit rubberized mat to keep it protected for all your car show gear.  This thing has a great stance and sits on a set of nice Rally wheels with beauty rings wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. Under the hood, this Elky is boasting a strong running 454 V8 motor to power it down the road.  It has been fitted with Chevrolet valve covers, a Chevrolet air cleaner, a chrome alternator, Holley aluminum intake, Mallory HEI distributor and Edelbrock 650 cfm 4 barrel carburetor.  The heads and block have been all painted Chevrolet Orange and along with the nicely routed hoses makes for a clean looking engine compartment.  It is kept running nice and cool thanks to the aftermarket aluminum radiator with mechanical fan in an added shroud.  It starts right up and has a great sound through the headers into dual exhaust.  Backing the motor is a 4 speed manual transmission paired with a 12 bolt rear end.  The 3:08 gears are brand new and it also comes with a set of 4:11s.  The suspension has been redone with a front sway bar and tubular upper A-Arms.  It has power brakes with discs up front and power steering which make it a very comfortable driver.  Other nice upgrades include the electric fuel pump and Optima red top battery.    The interior is done in all Black and the upholstery looks great.  It has a split bench seat in place with lap belts for both driver and passenger.  Behind the seat is some of the new custom stereo set-up that includes new Rockford Fosgate speakers, a Pioneer pre amp subwoofer and the below the dash Pioneer AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth receiver.  The dash is all painted Black and features a combination of stock components with an added Sunpro gauge pod.  The steering column is topped with an aftermarket steering wheel and has also been fitted with a tachometer.  The carpet is in great shape and through the floor is a Hurst shifter that moves through the gears with ease. This clean El Camino is in excellent condition throughout and is ready for a new garage to call home. This truck has been SOLD! Please check out our other ads!

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
