Ford Custom 1939

General description : 1939 Ford Custom Some of the coolest design work out there has to be found on the early Fords.  With various trim designs, different fenders, unique grills and ornaments it seemed like every year brought a completely new unique look.  Well the late 30's and early 40s presented one of the coolest looking classics out there.  The large rounded fenders up front and pointed nose give the car a more streamline appearance than the earlier classics while still keeping the look we associate with the 30s.  This 2 door 39 Ford Sedan is a nicely built car that has a lot going for it including a very reasonable price tag.  Coated in Green the car has no problem standing out.  A lot of the original style trim is in place as well as the front chrome bumper but the rear bumper has been removed.  Nice pinstriping work accents the windows, rear decklid and follows the stainless trim lines along the sides.  Custom polished aluminum wheels sit under all four corners with new Cooper Trendsetter SE radial tires (F:P185/70R14, R:P225/75R15.) Powering the car is the reliable 350/350 combo that all street rodders know and love.  This motor and transmission combo is very reliable and easy to work on.  Parts are not hard to chase down.  The motor starts up smoothly and settles into a nice smooth idle.  A lot of components were just gone through and refreshed with any possible safety issues repaired.  The car has a Ford rear end with a Mustang II style front end.  Disc brakes are found up front and all are power assisted making the car a really easy driver.  The car has a Gel battery with battery cutoff switch so you don't lose all of the charge if it happens to sit for a while.    The interior of the car is complete in Tan leather and was really nicely done.  It has bucket seats up front with a bench in the rear.  The upholstery work combines a few Green accents and a fully custom V8 headliner.  A center console was made to provide extra storage as well as cupholders for front and rear passengers, a nice comfort feature often forgotten about when building a car.  The overhead console houses the Sony AM/FM/CD player and 2 courtesy lights.  A tilt steering column with column shift is in place and topped with an aftermarket leather wrapped steering wheel.  On the dash you will find Dolphin gauges that were painted to match the exterior and the Vintage AC/Heat controls.  The trunk is finished out as well with hidden extra storage compartments and a hidden compartment for the battery.  This nicely built street rod is slightly showing its age in some spots but is still a very nice solid car.  You can tell by looking it over that a lot was invested in its build. You won't find many street rods this nice that you can take home for the reduced price of only $28,750.00 $24,850.00!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
