Ford F1 350 V8 1948

General description : 1948 Ford F1 Pickup When a series of vehicles lasts over 70 years, there must be something special about them.  Well that is absolutely the case with Ford's F series pickups.  The F series is not only iconic for being popular for so many years but the introduction of the series put pickups on the map.  For the first time Ford separated its cars and trucks by developing a chassis specifically designed for use in pickups.  The truck you see here marks the beginning of this change in the pickup world which happened in 1948.  It is called an F1 and is the grandfather to all those Ford pickups you see driving around every day.  This truck has been entirely redone and is one of the nicest out there.  It is absolutely beautiful from front to rear and basically a brand new F1.  Driving down the road in this thing feels like you just bought a pickup in 1948, the only difference is it's nicer!  It has had a fresh frame off restoration where not a single inch was left untouched.  It was a full custom build by Arvin's Shop out of Minnesota.  The process was all documented and build pictures are available.  The body is in excellent condition with zero issues.  It is coated in a nice Ford Candy Red paint which has a great shine and zero imperfections.  20K was invested in just the paint and body to make sure it was the cleanest looking truck on the road.  All of the original style chrome and trim is cleanly mounted in place and shines like a mirror.  Under all four corners are 15 inch custom Billet Specialties wheels with fresh tires. Pop the hood and you will be greeted with a fully chrome/polished out 350 V8 crate motor.  The truck only has 3,000 miles on it since completed so it is basically a brand new motor.  It has a MSD fuel injected throttle body, custom valve covers, a MSD distributor, and chrome everywhere you look.  The motor is backed by a Tremec 5 speed that transfers power back to the Ford 9 inch rear end with 3:50 gears.  In addition to driving excellent the truck rolls down the road very comfortably.  This is due to the Fatman suspension that was installed along with the new powder coated Fatman chassis.  It has power Wilwood disc brakes throughout as well as power steering so driving the truck is like rolling around in a new car.  Other nice changes include the electric battery cut off and stainless steel gas tank with the filler which was routed through the fender.  This is a very nice change because it eliminates the stock tank which was mounted behind the seat inside of the cab.    The interior of the truck is all new and features a split bench seat with Black and Red two tone leather upholstery.  The Black carpet is in great shape along with the Red Ford floor mats.  The dash is nicely painted Red except for the glove box door which was painted Black for a nice contrast.  It is topped with aftermarket Autometer gauges mounted in a Billet bezel and a Custom Autosound stereo system.  The underdash Vintage AC system works well and blows cold.  In front of the driver sits a chrome Flaming River tilt column and a Billet Specialties steering wheel.  We can't write about this truck without mentioning the fully redone bed which is one of the nicest things to see on these old pickups.  This one was done with Dark Oak which looks perfect framed with the stainless strips in between. If you are on the hunt for a 1948 F1 that is better than new this Pickup is one to check out.  Our pictures don't even do it justice.   This truck has been SOLD! About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
