Ford Fairlane 1955

General description : 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria Glasstop Thought sunroofs were a modern luxury?  Well guess again!  Even back in 1955,car manufacturers knew being able to let in the sun and look up at the stars without pulling off the whole top was a big selling feature.  So they took their Crown Victoria line and made a glass top version that was totally unique.  This 1955 Ford Crown Vic is one of those glasstops and came that way originally from the factory.  It is painted in a nice Black and White color combination that pairs perfectly with all of the original style chrome and stainless that these cars came with.  All of the original style emblems are in place even the Fordomatic on the rear.  The car has that total 50s look complete with rear fender skirts and a continental kit.  These features were not original from the factory.  It wouldn't look right with anything but Wide Whites underneath so that's what you will find wrapped around the original style wheels and hubcaps.     Powering the car is the original style 292 V8 motor backed by the Fordomatic transmission.  It starts up smoothly and drives well.  The motor has that original look including the Ford valve covers and original style Ford oil bath air cleaner.  The block, heads, and manifold are all painted Red for a finished out look.  The interior is all done in Black with a White and Black two tone dash.  The upholstery has been redone on the car so it has a slightly different look from the original stitching, etc.  It has a split bench seat up front which is very comfortable and fitted with lap belts.  A bench seat is also found in the rear with a foldable center arm rest.  All of the interior trim is in place with 2 speakers on the rear package tray.  The dash has a nice finish and is kept all originally.  The only customization was adding a second gauge pod for oil, amp, and temp gauge below it next to the steering wheel. It even has the original Ford Magic Air heat system. These cars always prove to be very popular and being a glasstop makes it a really unique classic.  No 50's collection would be complete without one! Add it to your collection for the reduced  price of $39,900.00 $33,900.00!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
