Finishing work at that time consisted of replacing the shocks, exhaust system, wiring harness, gas tank, brake and transmission lines, and starter and alternator as well as installing front disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering. The car is powered by a 351ci V8 backed by a three-speed automatic transmission and has been refinished in green over a black interior. It also also has 15â³ Scott Drake wheels, front bucket seats, and a folding rear bench. Modifications prior to the seller's acquisition involved removing the front shock towers and replacing the front subframe and control arms as well as the shocks. Rack-and-pinion steering and front disc brakes were also installed, and the hard and soft brake lines were replaced. Scott Drake 15â³ wheels are mounted with Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires. The emergency brake is not installed.The 351ci V8 was rebuilt under previous ownership, and in 2022 it was disassembled, inspected, cleaned, and resealed. The wiring harness, fuel tank, sending unit, and distributor were replaced, and a Promaster mini-torque starter and alternator were installed. It is also equipped with an Edelbrock intake manifold and an aluminum radiator with an integrated transmission cooler.Power is sent to the rear wheels through a C4 three-speed automatic transmission, which the seller notes was rebuilt under current ownership along with the rear end. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.
In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.
In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
