Ford Mustang 289 V8 1966

General description : 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible One of the best representations of the muscle car world has to be the classic Mustang.  These cars were extremely popular new and just as popular in modern times.  Not only are they still being made but the cars from the 60's are very collectable.  We run across a bunch of different styles of classics in our business spanning from pro touring cars, restomods, originals, etc.  Some of the coolest we get to experience are things like this very cool 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible that is a true survivor car.  Literally, everything you see is what the car had from the factory.  Since new, 58 years ago, the car has remained in a single family.  That means since day 1 the whereabouts of this car has been known.  Also consider that this means this car has never been wrecked and survived all those years with no problems and only 45,512 all original miles.  The body wears its original Red paint which is showing its age in spots but is the actual original paint.  The original top is done in White and is in good condition with no tears.  All of the factory chrome and trim is there and mounted in place.  The car sits on its original wheels and hubcaps with thin white wall tires. VIN 6F08C742710 6 - 1966 F - Dearborn, MI 08 - 2 Door Convertible C - 289 w/2 Barrel 742710 - 642,710 assembled DATA CODE PLATE 76B - 2 Door Convertible, Luxury Bucket Seats T - Candyapple Red 66 - Black Crinkle Vinyl, Luxury Pony Interior 12V - 12th August 17 - Washington DC 6 - 2.80 gear ratio 5 - 4 Speed Manual The car runs/drives and is powered by its original 289 V8.  It has a very stock appearance with its original Blue valve covers and Blue single snorkel air cleaner.  The car has the front disc brake option and they are power assist.  Backing up the motor is a 4 speed manual transmission that shifts smoothly.  Underneath the car the floors are solid with no issues. The interior is the original Black vinyl and is the luxury pony interior option.  It has some signs of wear but it is the original factory installed interior.  The manual shifter is mounted to the floor between the dual bucket seats.  On the dash everything is stock except a JVC cassette stereo was added below the dash.  This is actually pretty cool to see and shows how much of a time capsule the car is.  In front of the driver is the correct 3 spoke Mustang woodgrain steering wheel. This is a really neat car that could be driven and enjoyed as is or would make a great base for full restoration.  Better yet, it is being offered up at an affordable price where you have those options to choose from without breaking the bank.  Mustangs are constantly growing in popularity so snatch it up while it is still around. This 1 family Mustang could now be in your family for only $28,800.00!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
