The next amazing vehicle up for grabs in our Benicia showroom is this outstanding 1937 Ford Model 78 Deluxe 2 Door Cabriolet with Rumble Seat, Washington Blue exterior paint, a tan Canvas soft top and gorgeous brown leather in the interior. You’ll find a 231 ci flathead V-8 engine under the hood with a new carburetor, and upgraded cam, a new radiator, a new clutch/pressure plate, a new exhaust and a 3-speed manual transmission, along with new hydraulic brakes, new wiring and so much more. This cabriolet is gorgeous in person and with a mere 500 miles on the build, it’s ready to be shown off and driven immediately.
Driven Only 500 Miles Since Complete Restoration
The current owner of this 1937 Ford Model 78 Deluxe Cabriolet acquired it back in 2013 as the 5th lifetime owner and he informs us that this beauty underwent a complete frame off restoration earlier this year. The exterior is one of the nicest we’ve ever seen with flawless lines and extremely high quality paint and trim work, plus a completely overhauled engine compartment that’s 100% show ready. Along with a fully upgraded leather interior that includes a high-end wooden dash, new carpeting, a very comfortable leather bench seat and excellent glad/trim, this is easily one of the nicest examples that we’ve come across in quite some time.
Additionally, this 1937 Ford Model 78 Deluxe Cabriolet had the vast majority of the drivetrain rebuilt or replaced within the last 500 miles as well, so the overall ride quality is exceptional. The flathead V-8 with an upgraded distributor is smooth and steady on the open road with nice acceleration and an impressive sound coming from the new dual exhaust. Upgraded hydraulic brakes also provide excellent stopping power, which makes this one of the most complete builds you’ll find anywhere. The asking price doesn’t even begin to cover the quality and craftsmanship found in this excellent roadster.

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.
In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.
In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
