Ford Roadster 392 Hemi 1939

General description : 1939 Ford Custom The classic 39 Ford had one of the coolest looking front ends every created.  The wide rounded fenders with the "V" shaped grill and pointed nose just had a cool sleek look that everyone is looking for in a street rod.  This 39 Ford takes that original look and packs in a lot of customizations to make it one of a kind.  The frame and body are fully custom with many modifications to get this look.  The front cross member was modified and fit under the front rails to make the car sit 2 inches lower.  The upper towers were raised 2 inches to counter this and keep the a arms in the proper stance.  The rear frame rail was moved in for the tubs and reshaped/c notched to lower the body and give it a channeled look while not sacrificing the ride.  The front and rear fender openings were radiused 2 inches to conform to the radius of the wheels.  They were filled on the inside and smoothed during this process.  The bottom of the front/rear fenders were also cut 1.5 inches shorter so the running boards edge could be raised up and fitted closer to the bottom of the doors.  The stock grill bars were also cut and reshaped to fit the fenders properly.  They were capped off top and bottom to keep the slope and the center bar was removed and fit the same outer bar shape to match.  The front fenders were cut back 2 inches and new headlight rings and buckets made.  They were molded into the fenders and frenched in for a smooth custom look.  The firewall, inner fenders and floor had major modifications to fit the new drivetrain.  The four corners around the heads/valve covers were frenched so the parts could be removed later as needed while the motor was still in the car.  The windshield has been chopped 2.75 inches and the center post removed.  The cowl was also filled.  The door hinges were hidden and the doors shaves.  In back the 39 tail lights were frenched as well as the license plate.  Talk about a lot of work!  There is no telling how many hours were put into these modifications alone.  The car was then painted a 97 Porsche Guard Red which has a really nice shine.  Custom pinstriping was added and nicely breaks up the Red with a section that runs all the way down the side body line.  The top is a black removable Carson top which is the top of the line aftermarket top for these cars.  It has Hopster wheels which look great and the rears are 14 inches wide.  Turning those tires is a 1957 Chrysler 392 CID hemi motor that runs excellent.  The entire motor has been completely rebuilt from top to bottom.  All of the internals are new.  It has a lot of power and is around 9.5 - 1 compression.  The 2 new durashine Edelbrock carbs are topped with a scoop that looks really tough.  Paired with the motor is a 727 automatic transmission with 3000 stall converter, B&M pro stick, and reverse valve body.  In back the car has a 9 inch rear end with 3.00 gears and 31 spline axles.  The fuel cell was custom fabricated and holds 30 gallons.  The undercarriage is painted red to match the car and looks great with a custom polished stainless steel Super Trap exhaust system. The car drives and rides great. It has a new power rack and pinion plus adjustable coil overs. The interior is all new and done in White.  The leather upholstery looks great and the bucket seats are comfortable.  The dash has been kept nice and clean with only a Dakota Digital unit in place.  A custom center console was built for the car and houses the shifter and AM/FM/CD player.  The Vintage Air system blows cold and the A/C brackets were custom built as well.  The chrome tilt column looks great in front of the driver and is topped with a billet wheel.  The door panels on the car look good and feature an arm rest and power window controls.  Make this custom yours for $60,000.00!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
