Ford Thunderbird 1987

General description : 1987 Ford Thunderbird LX The 1987 Ford Thunderbird LX you see here belongs to the 9th generation of TBirds and is a beautiful example of one of these cars.  It is in excellent condition throughout and is the top of the line version available for that year.  It is painted in a nice Blue Metallic that is the factory color but has been redone.  The repaint was very high quality and the white pinstripes were laid down under the clear.  The car has 86,929 original miles and has clearly been well maintained since new.  It actually just received a thorough tune up where no expense was spared in getting everything in good working condition.  $2,405 was invested to put in a new fuel pump, fuel filter, transmission pan gasket, transmission filter, water pump, power steering pump, idle air control valve, fuel pressure regulator, power steering lines, valve cover gaskets, upper plenum gasket, alternator with new wires, new brake bearings, turn signal flash relays, and a full brake job.  Of course with all that work the fluids were changed out as well.  The result is a very road worthy car that you can depend on for many more years and miles to come.  In addition to maintenance stuff a couple of nice upgrades were done as well.  That includes $525 for a new dual exhaust system and $745 for new smoothie wheels with new tires.  In addition to the custom wheels the car also comes with its original wheels and hubcaps.  These cars came with 2 motors as options and this one features the larger the 5.0 L EFi V8 motor.  These are great running motors and are very easy to buy parts for and work on.  These are the same engines featured in Mustangs so it has plenty of pep.  Backing that up is a 4 speed automatic transmission that was just serviced.  The car runs down the road very smoothly.    The interior of the car is in a matching Blue and the cloth is in good condition.  The seats are fully adjustable via various switches on the center console between the bucket seats.  This is also where you will find the power mirror and power window controls.  The dash is all stock and features woodgrain accents throughout.  This was a luxury car in its day so all of the latest and greatest features in 87 were put into it.  This includes things like the digital gauges and cruise control buttons inset into the steering wheel.  This is all common nowadays but back in the late 80s these features were new for a lot of people.  If Thunderbirds are your thing this is definitely one to check out.  It is being offered up at a very reasonable price especially when you consider what all was just invested into it. Make it yours for the reduced price of only $9,950.00 $4,950.00!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
