Ford V8 3 ton 1938

General description : 1938 Ford One Tonner Flatbed Pickup If you are tired of seeing the same old thing at your local car show then how about pulling up in a unique classic like this.  The 1938 Ford Pickup you see here is known as a one tonner and has a flatbed in the back.  The 38 Fords are unique in their own right but add in the hydraulic flatbed set up and you really have an eye catcher.  The truck is extremely beautiful in person and will have anyone from any generation feeling nostalgic.  Originally a truck like this would probably be restricted to the farm but turn signals and 4 way flashers have been added to make it street legal and able to cruise into town.  The body is all painted Black but really the most stunning exterior feature has to be that flatbed.  With all factory PTO hydraulics and pump the bed raises up and tilts towards the back.  It was entirely redone to the original look and is absolutely beautiful.  The support runners were done in Oak with a top layer of Long Leaf Pine that was special ordered out of Boston.  The wood was purchased from a cotton seed mill and has been permanently preserved.  The Ford script was then inlayed in a darker wood.  The easy route would have been using a stencil and stain but no corners were cut here.  A digital router was used to embed the logo into the Pine.  The chrome and stainless work has a great shine and all of it is cleanly mounted place.  Original style wheels are in place with 650/20 tires and the dually set up in rear.  Under the hood is the original 85hp flathead motor that starts up and drives extremely well.  Based on the old work truck style of this vehicle you wouldn't expect it to drive as smoothly as it does.  It has no problems rolling down the road and utilizes a 4 speed manual transmission with granny gear.  The electrical system has been gone through and upgraded to 12 volt so replacement parts are much easier to find.    The interior of the truck is done in Green and has that all original look.  All of the factory components grace the dash including the factory gauges which are all working except for the temperature gauge.  Because of this an additional temperature gauge has been installed.  The truck comes with the Deluxe heat system which is also still working properly. You don't see many 38s up for sale and even less like this one.  If you went out searching for a 38 one tonner odds are that this is the only one you will be able to find on the market.  It has that ultimately American classic look and is a hit wherever it goes.  Make this part of history your own for the reduced price of $28,750.00! NOW REDUCED DOWN TO $14,900.00!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
