This 1942 Ford Deluxe Station Wagon was acquired by the current owner back in 2012 as a typical driver-quality classic with nice body lines.  It has three previous owners before him and an incomplete history, so we’re not sure where this rare example was originally sold.  We do know that this was one of the impossible to find examples that were produced before Ford shut down on February 10th, 1942 to assist in the 2nd World War.  Approximately 3,400 of this rare model were produced.
The Restoration Process
The restoration process began almost immediately after the current owner took possession and started with stripping it down to bare metal and restoring the shape to true perfection.  A 1946 grill and hood were installed for improved appearance and then show quality paint was applied both inside and out. This classic also has brand new chrome including the headlights/tail lights, pin striping, the bumpers and additional accents.  You’ll also find outstanding Maple and Mahogany exterior wood paneling that literally takes your breath away; the exterior of this classic Woody is flawless down to the smallest of details.
The Incredible Interior
The outstanding interior of this 1942 Ford Deluxe Wagon is just as impressive with gorgeous flowing hardwood across the entire roofline and side panels.  The dashboard almost steals the show, however, with sensational chrome work with subtle wood inserts and VDO gauges.  The custom leather is also imported and placed on top of the line Teas custom seating for unparalleled comfort.  It is truly rare to find a classic that appears so period correct yet has a modern feel- the build quality is exceptional and one of the nicest we’ve ever seen.
The Updated Drivetrain
Equal attention was paid to this 1942 Ford Deluxe Wagon’s drivetrain for both sizzling performance and appearance.  As you can see from the photographs, the engine compartment is very nicely dressed with chrome plated accessories and smart wiring.  Air conditioning, power steering and power brakes were added during the build along with the Mustang independent front suspension and the Ford read differential.  The fuel injected LT4 engine sounds excellent through the side-mounted exhaust pipes and this vehicle is an absolute pleasure to drive.
Out on the open road, this 1942 Ford Deluxe Woodie 4 Door Station Wagon drives like a brand new vehicle as it glides down the highway.  The acceleration is excellent and the transmission shifts smoothly, with plenty of horsepower and torque when needed.  The steering and braking power are also excellent so it would be hard to top the overall build quality from a performance perspective.  Driving this classic is pure enjoyment and with modern fuel economy, there are truly no limits to how this example can be enjoyed.
Must See in Person to Truly Appreciate
Overall, this extremely rare 1942 Ford Deluxe Woodie 4 Door Station Wagon could be the premiere example nationwide and the collectability is off the charts desirable.  This classic would be an excellent investment for any serious collection since its true museum quality with modern enhancements.  For more information about this vehicle, visit our Fairfield, California showroom, give us a call at 707-419-8200, or email us at Sales@SpecialtySales.com.  Be sure to mention Stock # F13323 as well.

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
