SGS war ein deutscher Tuner und Hersteller von ausgefallenen Luxusautomobilen. SGS (Styling – Garage) war beheimatet im Umland Hamburgs und beschäftigte sich vornehmlich mit Karosserieumbauten und luxuriösen Innenausstattungen.

Sie galten in den frühen 1980er Jahren als einer der erfolgreichsten Veredler von Mercedes-Benz und BMW – Fahrzeugen. Die Kundschaft der auffälligen und sehr teuren SGS Modelle kam vorwiegend aus arabischen Staaten oder den USA. Bei dem hier angebotenen Fahrzeug handelt es sich um eines der ganz raren SGS Cabriolets, die auf Basis des Mercedes-Benz 500SEC Coupés in kleiner Stückzahl gebaut wurden. Das elegante Cabriolet wurde am 29.02.1984 auf das Autohaus Rosier in Menden erstzugelassen, was der original Pappbrief mit nur einem einzigen Eintrag belegt. Es zeigte zu der Zeit eindrucksvoll auf, was ein „Edeltuner“, wie man SGS zu der Zeit liebevoll nannte, zusätzlich zu den ohnehin hochwertigen Ausstattungen des Herstellers, zu leisten vermochte. Die Auslieferungsfarbe war „anthrazitgrau-metallic“ mit feinem Nappaleder in „schwarz“, das elektrisch zu betätigende Cabriodach passend in schwarz gehalten.

Die Ausstattung erfreute u.a. mit getönter und wärmedämmender Rundumverglasung, elektrischen Sitzen vorn mit Memory-Verstellung, ABS, Tempomat, tollen Alufelgen mit Breitreifen und einer komfortablen Klimatisierungsautomatik. All das hatte aber auch seinen Preis. Die betuchte Käuferklientel hatte je nach Ausstattung schnell einmal DM 240.000,- auf der Rechnung stehen.
