Jeep CJ7 4.2 L I6 1985

General description : RECENTLY RESTORED CJ7, 258 I6, AUTO, PS, FRONT DISCS, NEW TOP, RUGGED & READY

Somewhere between mean trail machine and cool boulevard cruiser lies this 1985 Jeep CJ7 Renegade. With glossy paint, even shinier chrome, and overall rugged 4x4 prowess, this icon can truly do everything and fit in anywhere. And it's hard to do that with any other vehicle for this kind of value price.
The CJ7 is the quintessential Jeep, combining the classic upright grille, topless fun, and a rugged but friendly demeanor. The Renegade was the top-of-the-line and it looks the part, especially dressed in a recently applied coat of Mandarin Orange with plenty of bright trim. This Renegade stands out from the crowd with the tubular bumpers, tubular side rails, differential covers, hood latches, large side mirrors, rear light protectors, and 15-inch Dick Cepek wheels all shining bright as new. Best of all, all of these mirror-like enhancements are on components that are functional, too (items like the chromed headlights and Ram hood ornament are just purely because they are cool!) Even the best part of a Jeep's jewelry, the swing-away hatch with full-size spare, has a nice bright appearance.
The new tan softop and doors were a great investment, but we all really love it when these Jeeps are open to the world. That's why there has also been money put into making sure the interior looks great and functions like a Jeep should. Nearly everything looks new, including the rugged black vinyl seating. The front buckets are comfortable on the trail, and when it's time to go out on the town, they are sharp. Plus, the rugged black floor mats and tough liner paint on the floor means you can still clean out this Jeep with a garden hose. This one has all the right features you could want, including an AM/FM/CD stereo with aux input for your iPod and a comfortable center console with lockable storage and cup holders. Even the fire extinguisher looks great with its polished presentation. You'll slip behind the grippy sports steering wheel, and the original gauge package is bright and clear against the orange panel - so you always know where you stand, even out on the trail.
Under the hood is the correct 258 cubic-inch inline-six motor. It's a long established powerplant for Jeep that has proven its reliability and continues to have easy parts availability. Torquey and robust, this is the engine you want pulling through daily traffic or the worst slop Mother Nature can throw at you. There are even Super 4x4 spotlights to make sure you can always see the way home. The three-speed automatic feeds the Dana 300 transfer case and seriously beefy axles at both ends (Dana 30 front; AMC 20 rear.) Tall gears and low range give it rock-crawling stability, but thanks to the modern Sport King tires, it can cruise easily at highway speeds, too. In fact, with it's power steering and discs up front, this CJ 7 is just as comfortable being a city slicker on the weekdays as it is a country climber on the weekends.
The CJ7 is an enduring icon that always has a place in enthusiast's hearts. So when you can get your hands on a great looking and recently restored example for such an affordable price, well then, you know this deal will be leaving us soon. Call today!!!

About Jeep
The history of Jeep is a tale of rugged innovation and an iconic journey from its roots as a military workhorse to its various civilian versions, including American competitors to the Range Rover.

The Birth of the Jeep:
The Jeep story began during World War II when the U.S. Army put out a call for a small, versatile, four-wheel-drive vehicle. Several American automakers responded, but the Willys-Overland company, along with its partner Ford, ultimately won the contract. The result was the Willys MB, an agile and tough vehicle that quickly earned the nickname "Jeep." The name's origin is a subject of some debate, but it's believed to have been derived from the military phonetic alphabet's "GP" designation, which stood for "General Purpose" or "Government Purpose."

World War II Service:
Jeeps became the backbone of the American military, serving in various roles from reconnaissance to medical transport. Their durability, four-wheel-drive capability, and ease of maintenance made them invaluable during the war. They were used in all theaters of the conflict and left an indelible mark on military history.

Post-War Transition:
After World War II, many surplus military Jeeps found their way into civilian hands, and their utility became evident beyond the battlefield. Recognizing this potential, Willys-Overland began producing the CJ (Civilian Jeep) series, starting with the CJ-2A in 1945. These early civilian Jeeps retained their military roots but were adapted for farm, ranch, and off-road use. They soon gained popularity among outdoor enthusiasts and those in need of a rugged, capable vehicle.

The Jeep Brand Expands:
Over the decades, the Jeep brand continued to evolve, introducing a wide range of models to cater to different consumer needs. The Jeep Wagoneer, introduced in 1963, was one of the earliest luxury SUVs and a competitor to the Range Rover, offering four-wheel drive and a comfortable ride.

The Jeep Cherokee, introduced in 1974, was a pioneering compact SUV that combined off-road capability with on-road comfort. Its success laid the foundation for the modern SUV segment.

In 1984, Jeep introduced the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which further advanced the brand's presence in the luxury SUV market. The Grand Cherokee was designed to deliver a refined driving experience without sacrificing its off-road prowess.

Jeep Wrangler, which evolved from the CJ series, has remained a steadfast symbol of off-road capability and rugged adventure. The Wrangler has garnered a devoted following of enthusiasts who appreciate its simplicity and go-anywhere attitude.

Jeep Renegade, Jeep Compass, and Jeep Gladiator are examples of modern Jeep models that cater to a wide range of consumer preferences and market segments.

American Competitors to the Range Rover:
While Jeep has produced various models to compete in the luxury SUV market, including the Grand Cherokee, they have also faced competition from American automakers like Cadillac and Lincoln, which have introduced their own luxury SUVs to compete with the Range Rover. These vehicles offer a blend of comfort, technology, and off-road capability, making them alternatives to the Range Rover for American consumers.

In conclusion, the history of Jeep is a story of adaptability and innovation, with the brand transitioning from its military origins to become a symbol of rugged individualism and adventure. Jeep's ability to blend off-road capability with on-road comfort has made it a respected and iconic American brand in the world of 4x4 vehicles.
